I'm testing on my Zire71...but CRASH!! I can't remember how to typing in the path to the games? I'm HOPING! the sound works for Tentacle.... :-/

Well the crash that I get is when it can't find the TENACLE.000 file, then the reset happens, not a crash sorry to scare you.

Yes, I have read the documents, I had this working before, but that was back when I had a Sony T615c. I will just re-check my typing and locations. Thx.

BTW, It was a spelling error!! Works fine, no sound but works...

5-Way support works great!! a little slow moving but works.

i just uploaded a new test version with wide support on landscape device (UX50, T3 ...) but no ARM yet

T3 now use portrait wide if the game start in potrait mode
and landscape wide if the device start in landscape mode

let me know which one is faster

i also speed up a bit the 5way mouse emulation let me know if it's better now

Keep in mind that this version is a test version ONLY and may crashes with some games. It is just there to test lastest features of scummvm for palmos since i only own a Clie T625C.

Working better!!! The5 -Way is much faster, and everything else seems to be the same. NO CRASHES!! :-)

Here are my results with last test version on my T3 (indy3)
- no sound
- works in landscape but slower
- landscape + wide 1.5x -> grafiti area retract the freez on "loading please wait"
- landscape + full screen -> run but very slow and many part of animation and speech are missing

Good news,
the first file works in landscape with wide screen option. The picture take the all screen :)
But there are missing animations and speech. In indy3 I have lucas logo then the view of the university (no scrolling) then wet indy before marcus (no indy walk and no speech) and then indy in the gym room.

The second file don't works and freez when loading.

I don't tried the windows version of scumm but there isn't any problem with indy3 in scummvm for palm if I don't chose "wide 1,5x" option.
So the problem is inside your scumm port...:rolleyes:

I don't know if it's fast or slow because there is no fluent animation. It's like a "bande dessinée en FR" with only a part of the pictures of the script.

this is an issue with the lastest scummvm (even on windows)
this is because this game required a particular music engine which cannot be set on palmos and i you choose another engine than this one (FM Towns i think) the game lock at Lucasart logo even on windows

Yes OK for the logo of lucas and the intro with the train that don't work sinds some release of scumm for palm. But why the rest of the intro (scroll view of the university and the arrive of wet indy who talk with markus) works in "flipping mode" and not in "wide 1,5x" mode?

So for me the problem is inside of palm scumm

I have found the problem: the "enable music" option was selected. I unselect it and now it works fluently.

PS: I don't have scummvm.ini file on my memory card

I've been using my T3 with the latest test and I'm having some problems.

The game I'm running is Dott. I'm using it with normal (flipping) screen size. The game runs ok, but when I hit the quit button my T3 always resets.

When I try to enter ScummVM again I get the following error:

MemoryMgr.c, Line:3651, Free handle

And I have to reset. In order to get into ScummVM again I have to go to my SD card and erase listdata.pdb. If I don't erase this file I get the error message over and over.

I'll try with the widescreen option and report back ;)

Ok

First impressions with widescreen mode.

The game started just fine. Great speed and fluent animation.

Since all the screen in my T3 is take un for the game I started pressing the app buttons to see if I could skip the intro. When I pressed the Contacts button the game freezed and so did my T3.

No error message, no nothing. I'll keep trying.

More testing done

Unfortunately I don't seem able to go beyond Dott's intro in widescreen mode. The whole intro runs fine provided that I don't touch any button. When the intro ends my T3 freezes. Again no error message is displayed.

I also am unable to display subtitles. I set them while editing the game basic settings and during the game (not on widescreen mode) by pressing the menu icon and checking the "Display Subtitles" box on the options submenu.

No more testing until January. I'm going out to the beach! ;)

Same problem here with ATLANTIS. Palm freezes when "tools bar" must be displayed. I have not that problem with indy3 (different scumm version?).

okay.... I deleted scummvm, and then tried from scratch...

installed everything from the zip and the new prc... the palm froze right after the intro again.. but then after resetting... the palm would not reset...

an empty dialog box comes up with a reset buttom that doesnt do anything... warm reset wouldnt work either... was forced to do a hard reset and then restore...

I just uploaded a new test version updated with lastest CVS. I didin't change anything for now just tweak a bit the wide display ARM code, so let me know if, now, it works

lock in fullscreen (no scale) mode ? strange ... is this a problem (bug) when we hide the slikarea ? what mode did you try with fullscreen (direct/buffered/flipping) ?

can you try the 'Use larger stack' option on Misc panel ?

Works on my T3 here if you start ScummVM in Portrait mode - 1.5x works great, i.e. full speed. Starting it in Landscape mode crashes it eventually.
I think you'd be best forcing the T3 into Portrait mode.
Problem is ScummVM always resets the T3 on exit.

not sure... in fullscreen (no scale mode) landscape I see loading day of the tentacle, and then it locks...

I can run it 1.5x though... as long as I dont hit the address book button to skip past the intro.. then it locks up... but if I use the task button to load a game, then it works... though I had a lockup after playing for abit

ok, it use a different function for portrait and landscape perhaps this is a problem in my code.

okay... this is what I have found on the T3 using DOTT

Direct mode- fullscreen off
works portrait
locks up in landscape

1.5x wide
works portrait with occasional lockup when leaving a room... and always locks up if I hit the address button to skip a scene

Direct mode- fullscreen on
works portrait, but doesnt rotate screen
locks up at loading screen in landscape

Flipping mode- fullscreen on
works portrait, but doesnt rotate screen
locks after intro in landscape

Same problem here for DOTT.

Following seem to work without problems in 1.5x mode: Monkey1, Atlantis, SamnMax

Monkey2 - can't get past protection screen as there is no input.

Hey chaps,

In case it helps I have a T3 with the latest scummvm test running with lightspeed overclocked to 600mhz running DOTT, I also have larger stack on.

So far I have been happily playing DOTT in landscape wide full screen x1.5 with no problems in any what so ever.

So if you want to know anymore about whats on my palm or if I can help in some other way please let me know as I am a huge fan of scummvm and will be happy to help.

well , on mine.. non overclocked.. DOTT works fine with full screen turned off, but running in 15x mode... except that I get occasional lockups... not always... just at some points...

apologies darrin, I based in London so I am about to go home as I am finishing work now.

I will try to reply to your comments from home if not tomorrow morning my time.

I did have lockups with the older version like you described but I uninstalled scummvm then installed the new ver and have not experienced the problems yet.

It will be difficult for me but I will force myself to play DOTT more on the tube on my home :)

Hello,

on a Zodiac2, the test version :

from PC Version (spanish)

- DOTT doesnt works, dont load (DOTT.001, DOTT.002 is presents)

- Manian Manision - internal game from DOTT (works ok but no sound)

- Indy4 - works ok, doesnt works sound

- Loom - works ok, doesnt works sound

Widescreen works perfect

Superb work.

Any idea about sound?

dott files must be tentacle.000 and tentacle.001 and tentacle.002 (depending on the version you have)

did you set music driver to Tapwave Zodiac on the music panel for indy 4 ?

Ok,

about DOTT in spanish version the files are named dott.000 and dott.001, renaming'em the game works ok

I have select music and Tapwave driver but didnt works.

I have select also selected platform PC

I'm new in the world of ScummVM, but I want to help, so I've downloaded the latest test version of ScummVM, and here are my results for DoTT, Monkey1 and Monkey2 in a Zire71:

- The system always reboot when I quit any game

- All three games run without sound (I supose it isn't implemented yet, isn't it?)

- Monkey1 and Monkey2 run at a normal speed

- DoTT runs at normal speed during the game but it is slower in the "spoken"(When there are voices in the PC version) parts.

Maybe this isn't very helpful, but it is what I have.

Just one more thing: Congratulations for such a good program!

Excited as always at a new release of ScummVM from Chrilith, I took some time today to test it out on my Zodiac1, and here's what I found:

Zodiac music driver doesn't make ScummVM crash anymore when I try to start games...but I don't get any music either...I couldn't tell if this is because music was disabled again or if I just don't have the music files installed for my games. Sam n Max is the only one I know that has midi music, and I don't have monster.sou on my memcard because it's 100+ megs and I deleted it earlier when I realized there was no sound fx yet...I could put it back on if music might work now and I need it though. (I know soundfx are in monster.sou but is midi data in it too?)

Running games works fine in direct or buffered vid mode, but flipping mode causes a crash with fatal exception: 10 4000001F

and trying to run in the current Wide 1.5x mode gives fatal exception: 10 4000001F

Other improvements I found are that Secret of Monkey Island (monkey1) now has an interface at the bottom (it didn't before when I ran it) so I can play it now, yay!

Also, now rotating the screen works so I can play my games in portrait OR landscape mode, which is great when I'm trying to hold my Zodiac to play for long periods :)

The only other weird problem I found was that when I try to save a Sam n Max game it crashes with fatal exception: 10 6000003F
204C2F2F 204C2E9E 308B89EE (the last set of characters actually changes depending on when I'm doing the save, and if it's an autosave it does it too)

When it crashes while saving it does save a file to my memcard, but if I try to load the save file it gives
fatal exception: 10 8000001F
201667F4 20166814 00000000

These Samnmax errors happened when I had music driver enabled or disabled and if I had larger stack option on or off (so basically always).

The games I tested and ran fine are loomcd, monkey1, monkey2, and maniac mansion. Samnmax worked fine except for crashing on save or auto-save, so I can't really play it right now (for more than 5 mins until it autosaves).

Keep up the great work Chrilith, I'm so happy with how it is coming along, and if I had money to buy CodeWarrior I'd try to help...right now I'm stuck toying around with prc-tools to make programs.

Ah ok, well that would explain why no music but no crashing :p The new version definitely runs a lot better though in direct or buffered screen modes and other than a little slowdown in animation in places where there are supposed to be voice in samnmax (I think someone else mentioned this about DOTT) the games run really well and I love being able to run in portrait mode too. The version of samnmax I have is the CD version. Thanks again!

Strangely, this new test version freez my T3 during sync (also the hotsync on PC). After reset, the app have a generic icon (a circle with a pen). So I don't launch it.

okay, playing dott.. 1.5x
when the T3 is in landscape, the device crashes upon loading the game

when it is in portrait is loads the game, and the sound is a little less choppy, but I get no picture.. just a black screen

with landscape, I get a blank screen on the intro, but its gets to the point of talking, i get the picture, except that the dialog and the actions are blacked out and then it freezes and he get done talking

all version, reset the device when you exit the game... this has been happening for awhile actually

Just tested... with DOTT and Sam & Max... it crashed both times when loading games. Tested in direct mode.

Just chiming in very late to say that the latest test.zip (downloaded last night) works perfectly on my Zodiac2 with MI1, MI2, and FOTAQ. Sound is A-OK (although it cuts out after playing for a looooong time), full-screen, very fast! Excellent work. It'd be nice if there were a virtual keyboard called up by the BT button, though. Or even the function button, instead of calling up a menu.

- try it using ARM checkbox active on the Misc panel
- on T3 : using wide landscape and portait and let me know if it works or not then try without ARM checkbox and tell me if it was faster
- then in normal gfx mode try a commonly heavy game like DOTT (scene with tentacle drinking waste) or Sma'n'Max and let me know if it seems faster or not.

Well, the actual downloadable version is faster than before with ARM optimization on.

It shows a profit of 14sec playing the intro of DOTT till the tentacle says "i'm thirsty" in wide mode on a NX60 (200Mhz)

and 6sec in normal mode (reported by Tovarish, thanks a lot ;)

let me know the result on your device !

As a comparaison teh same scene in nromal mode (from vortex to tentacle saying "i'm thirsty") take more 3minutes on my poor T625C

Just tried the 0.6.0 version and the newest test version on my T|3. Still not ready for primetime IMO but I am very glad to see that you are continuing development and I am confident that if you keep up at this rate you will release a great final release version.

On my T|3 I ran DOOT. I set up Arm support, and I even overclocked the application using LightSpeed 2.0b and the speach and sound were still choppy.

I tried wide screen support as well. Seemed to work as well as standard, but I didn't care for the blockiness and preferred the small sharp letterboxed screen. Kudos for getting it working!

I really hope that this gets to a point where it is playable for me as I missed out on all these games the first time around and would love a chance to play them in the future.

I have to say it is impressive that you have stuck with it and gotten this far. IIRC, I had a much earlier version on my NR-70 and this time around, set up was easier and game play was better.

I hope to see a release that will stay on my machine past the testing to see how far you've gotten mode...

All had a bit of stutter, is the bird supposed to squawk after the fish hops? He makes the gesture, but no sound comes from him until he coughs over the toxic waste.

Does Amiga, PC or any of the other settings make a difference? I am going to try changing them next.

It has been a long time since I posted for last time, but now I'm BACK.
I tried the last test version on my zire 71 (I know, I know it's not the best handled, but it's what I have) and these are my results:
- Day of the Tentacle: With the ARM support on seems to go a bit faster in the cutscenes, but it is slow already. The speech is very choppy but the gfx are OK. The in game speed is normal, so playable to the end without any error.
- Sam & Max: The game looks great in my handled, but it runs too slow. The speech and the music are very choppy too. It's not playable in my Zire71.
- Flight of the Amazon Queen(talkie version downloaded from scummv.org): The game freezes before showing anything and the handled resets.
- Simon the Sorcerer(floppy version, DOS): The handled resets after the screen:"Loading, please wait"

Maybe my handled has no enough power to run these last games, I don't know.


mattyparanoid, the bird squawks after the fish hops, but not in the handled, because you need other sound drivers(Roland, Adbli...) not added yet. There is also a "boing" sound when the Lucasarts logo appears at the begining.

Any help I can get please. I am using a Z1 and when I select SCUMM engine games I get this error:

Fatal Exception: 10

Tried the test version on my T3 (i have not tested earlier version).

There is a "little" problem. When i try to save the game it freezes. I thought it was in "landscape" mode, but in normal mode there's the same prob.

It freezes with all the games tested : Day of the tentacle, Indy 4, Monkey Island.

Any idea on how to solve the problem ?

Hey,

I have a Palm TX and I try ScummVM and I almost all the times got a soft reset after open the program.
So I started to do some test, and I found that when I'm running SCUMMVM without skin (using that black screen that looks like Lucas Arts Games) it just works fine!
So, I found out that the problem is something about the skin.
By the way the skin, at least to me, it's not a important thing, but without skin I can't select which slot where the games are! So I must use my BuiltIN (Palm TX has one). However, using only the BuiltIN memory I just have 80MB availibe, and a whole 2GB on the real slot.
So, can you help me?
How can I select my 2GB SD Slot on ScummVM when I'm not using a Skin???
When I try to change paths, it's only show me the content of my Builtin!!! (by the way I had to copy engine and game files to Builtin Card so I can open the ScummVM)
With a skin I know is just click on the card icon on right top side of the screen.

Hello everybody ...

I am probably stupid but ... how can I quit a game ? The home button on my TX just toggle fullsreen (streched), the home button on bottom bar doesn't work ...

If i launch a game, the only way to quit is ... reset ?

What did I miss ???

you can go to the menu and click quit OR tap CTRL+Z on the graffiti

When the game is launched, all the button in the bottom of the virtual silkscreen doesn't respond anymore. So, i cannot call the menu. Neither i can change from virtual keyboard to graphiti area.

If I am already with graphiti by default, i can quit with your command CTRL+Z, it's already something positive ... but how to get the menu ???

I have the latest test version installed to a memory card in my Lifedrive. Both Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle are working pretty well.

And while both the sound effects and speech are working pretty well (some lip-sync issues), I have absolutely no music.

I've tried all the driver options and a variety of the sound quality options. I also tried 0S5 Advanced mode, but that crashes my unit.

Other than the lack of music, this latest version seems stable.

Hi,I can play Sam&Max and Day Of Tentacle fully perfect ok UX50, but only in 320x320 mode instead I chek the Wide+ and Fullscreen options. And Im not able to press "home" or "Hard1" button, cause UX don't has it built in!It starts from "Hard2", so there's no "Hard1"...Any Ideas??I've already tryed with Codediver, but neither doesn`t work...Finishing my options..
On previous versions, CLIE owners were able to do this holding Jog button and moving it up or down, but this feature is not working on 9.1 and 10 versions...Any ideas/suggestions?

sorry I wa very busy. If the wide mode doesn't work now it is because ScummVM s now full ARM and I haven't added this support since I don't own an old Clié to test.

Perhaps in a near future or using a soft whch handle standard wide calls to sony one

BTW, I recently found a copy of Broken Sword II (£1!!! :eek: ), but haven't been able to get it to work with ScummVM that well - While it runs, it runs quite smooth and fast, 'tho the cutscenes are very slow, but the game seems to just randomly crash to a white screen and a BRZRZRZRZRZR noise.
Haven't tried any earlier versions.

Oh, this is on a Zodiac 2 with the 0.11svn zodiac2 version..
