I have a T3 and a Sony Ericsson T610.
Pairing
Use "Phone Link" to pair the devices.
I tried pairing the devices via "trusted devices" in system prefs. Though the pairing occured the functionality between my T3's contacts and the phones did not work via BT. I could send contacts to the phone, but the dialing features were not working. After pairing through "Phone Link" everything was seamless.
Handsfree Headset
My first try was with an "Actiontec" wireless BT Headset. I liked how small the headset was, but the clarity was really bad, which made voice commands almost impossible.
After returning the "Actiontec" I went with "Jabra". Jabra was the bomb. Very clear, long battery life, large but comfortable, voice commands were still a little buggy but better than the first unit.
Contact Merging
The ol' builtin address book and the "Send Catagory" command. I chose "All". Every contact was labled once, with all phone type variations listed within that single contact entry. All phone type icons in the phone worked out nice. Seamless and took about 2 minutes to do 438 contacts. Not bad. In less than 5 minutes I can delete the entire database on my phone and simply send the catagory again to update if i've been too lazy to send em as I go.
I game "funBOOK" a go round, but didn't like it. It seperated every phone type as an individual contact, meaning one contact could earn as many as 5 entries...that's about all I can say about that besides it also cost $20 and my address book which handled the situation easier and faster is free. The speed of the built in far surpasses the speed of funBOOK.
All things considered, I love the three way set up of my T3, T610 and Jabra. I wish the T3 had a phone on it, or I wich that the treo had VG instead of thumbpad. Whatever, it all works like a charm and has made working and talking a lot easier for this carpenter/contractor who doesn't like to stop working while he's talking, and has always preferred to handle his contacts on his Palm instead of the phone. The only real reason that I have now for even having my contacts on the phone is for callerID purposes. I wear the head set most of the day and dial BT from my T3 , while my phone just hangs out on my hip.
