Hi!

I like Palm Reader very much. IMO it really adds value to ebooks. But I can't convert some texts to its format (PML). I can convert them to DOC format using DocReader (simple and useful).

I've read about eBook Studio, but I can't afford it...

Is there anything like DocReader to create PML ebooks?

Go to the source - try Palm DropBook:

Palm DropBook & instructions (http://www.palmdigitalmedia.com/dropbook)

Near the top of the page, you'll find the following menu:

make books | download | how to run | palm markup language | converting | tips

Best of all, it's free and pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.

I have a How-To on my site.

How to Build a Palm Reader eBook (http://www.bryanshome.com/build_palm_reader.html)

I have tips on reformatting and cover the basic PML tags. I also have a "title block" of code that I paste into all the eBooks I post here to provide the title page.

With some practice it isn't difficult and cost nothing more than your time.

Thanks, but I want something like DocReader, I mean: a tool that I could download and it would make the converting proccess easier...
I already use DropBook. The coding proccess is hard! :D

Sorry then, those are the only Palm Reader eBook tools I know of.

Hi,

I wrote a program to convert Word Documents to eReader eBooks.

It is easy and complete. I wonder if any of the people in these forums would like to give it a try? I would appreciate any feedback.

Check it out at the site given below and let me know what you think.

Thank you

Looks interesting :) Will check it out.
Well?

Did it work? Did you like it? I'm having a good number of downloads, but no feedback... I'd love to know what's happening, both good and bad news.

Thanks...

Hi, I`ve made one fairly quick & dirty conversion with it. (four Hans Christian Anderson tales (http://www.1src.com/freeware/fileinfo.php?id=1147)) and seemed okay.
The bookmarks went to a spot slight;y higher than I had planned... though thats probally just a case of getting used to it.
I did lose the pictures I had inserted... which would of been because I copied n pasted them rather than following the instructions.... Next one I will do so.
Was very easy to do formating etc and painless to convert.
I'll keep playing with it & try for a more complex doc next time.

Tried again with the Snow Queen (http://www.1src.com/freeware/fileinfo.php?id=1148) but couldnt get pictures to go. I`ll go over to your forum and chat there about that - but is probally user error ;)

Doesnt seem to handle line breaks over well which makes text cramped. ie in the snow queen word doc there is a visible line between paragraphs & serval lines between chapters but these are lost on conversion.

Overall it is a very easy way to make palm ereader format book but still a few quirks.

It would make for a nice touch to have the auto install option go straight to expansion card but thats pretty fussy :)

Hi all,

I put up a new version of Publish eBook to address the issues raised here. Check it out on the site link given below.

Also, you can check the "Support" link there, it takes you to my forums - I'm trying to keep the Publish eBook discussion centered there.

Thank you

Kool program. I am posting here as well as in your forum as I think people like reading topics that have new posts. I had some issues with the converting of a doc that has a complicate set of styles and a large table of contents (neiter the table of contents or bookmarks showed up). This is a good program and I would like to see where it can go (I have a ton of books to get published one day ya know).
