View Full Version : Innopocket Sucks!!

In the past, I've said alot about how Innopocket was the best case to go with.
Well, my case finally arrived after 20 days of waiting, and I couldn't be more disappointed.
First of all, I was surprised at how light and unsturdy it felt. The case seemed to close all right but in a drop, I'm sure it would open up. I could easily bend the metal case if I tried.
Next, when I tried to put my SJ30 in the case, the metal clips gouged my SJ30. Now it is scratched and has a few dents where the flip case would attach.
Lastly, I was charged an additional $11 shipping fee even though they claim that the shipping fess are included. In fact, the mailman wouldn't even give me the case in less I paid him right then and there.
I'm sorry to anyone I have disagreed with about the DSI case's superiority. I hope anyone even considering the Innopocket case seriously reconsiders their choice.

I have the same exact complaints about my Innopocket case for my T665c. Hard to get it out, scratches my Clie, doesn't have a good locking system etc.

JakeK, I am surprised at your post really...from how you've been pushing this case on the threads here I assumed you had this case and were very satisfied with it. I didn't realize that you had ordered it, but hadn't tried it out yet.
What case are you going to go with now? The DSI?
Personally, I couldn't be happier with my Innopocket case (T-615). It's sturdy, the two halves fit extremely well together, and there is no chance of it opening accidentally.
So let me get this straight: you have advocated a product that you didn't actually use before? And we're supposed to trust you now?

Case construction is in the eye of the beholder. When I finally got my DSI case my husband looked at it and thought it had poor fit and finish and seemed flimsy. I really liked the light feel and construction. I got the hole for the hot sync cable filed larger and now I really like how easily it clicks shut and am confident (yes I did a low height drop test) that even if the case opens my clie will stay in it.
It's too bad it's so hard to find a place with all the cases available for trying before buying:(

I could be happier with My innopocket case. If it turned my sj20 to an sj30, was made of titanium, and possibly gave me telekinetic powers.. but other than that, this case rocks!
I had no issues whatsoever with shipping, charges, the case actually got here in 2 days..

Yes I realize now that I should have purchased the case before saying it was so good.
In my original post I should have apologized to you russr. Me and you had debated quite a bit over the cases. And yes, I will probably go with the DSI case. I would go with a leather case like the Covertec, if it didn't have a beltclip attachment on the back.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has talked about a product without having tried it out personally. I thought I had enough information to make an informed opinion.
I'm sorry.

Nice gesture Jake...
I myself am looking for a leather case too, mainly because shipping the DSI case to Europe is a tad too expensive, as is buying it here.
I've narrowed it down to two options for the SJ series, both which can be ordered through Brando, almost same price (25-30 USD) and definately both about the same size and bulk:
Digital Express SL/SJ Case (http://shop.brando.com.hk/deslsjcase.php) . The Clie is being held to the case by several little metal pins (much like the metal Innopocket case) and two plastic clips at the bottom of the Clie, where the cradle pins should be. I've read on some other forum that taking out the Clie is kinda hard.
PDAIR Clie SL/SJ series Case (http://shop.brando.com.hk/pdairclieslsjcase.php) . This one has two large plastic grabbers on the sides that actually grab the Clie. I'm not sure this is because it can be shoven in a ridge at the sides of the Clie, or wether there is another method
I'd like to hear some comments. Especially about the PDAIR case, as there are not many reviews about this case. I would really like to know what strengths the plastic grabbers have on the sides of my Clie. BTW I don't like leather 'pockets' holding my Clie to the case, so I chose these two.
Thanks, Jake. It seems like the case is by far the most personal part of the PDA decision. It's like buying shoes - it serves a similar function for everyone, but the decision is highly individual.

JakeK, I would also take a look at the Sena Case. Herbzilla says he has it and you can ask him more about it, but it seems like one of the leather cases I would consider.

I had ordered two cases from Innopocket on the 12th and they shipped out of HK on the 13th and just arrived here (Hawaii) ten minutes ago (today is the 18th). Not bad. The cost for shipping was very reasonable $6 for TWO cases via air mail, not FedEx. One case for my NX70V and one as a gift for a SJ-30 owner.
First impression for the SJ-30 case is that it looks like it will provide a good level of protection for the pda.
First negative impression. It's slippery. The paint is not textured. I could see this unit maybe sliding out of my grip, or off of a slanted surface.
I don't understand the concern over the case scratching the pda. When I gave the case to my friend I warned him about the potential for the hooks in the case scratching the back of the pda, or the case scratching the sides of the pda. So he carefully inserted the pda into the case and there were no scratching issues. --Maybe Innopocket had redesigned their case.
Overall I'm happy with the product. It looks like it will: prevent crushing, scratches, reduce the amount of dirt and dust the pda would normally be exposed to, and, provide a measure of "drop protection".
The fit for the SJ-30 is snug and precise.
For $30 bucks it's well worth it.
Other notes on the SJ-30 Innopocket case:
It has a better/tighter fit than the NX70V case.
You can't use the cradle with the case on.
The downside of this case is that it is made in a communist controlled country, so the money we send to HK, now controlled by China, could be used to fund the demise of the free world. -oh well, it's still a great case.

Yes, I've been very happy with the Sena case. It is a nicely designed case that doesn't add a lot of bulk to the unit. I like the top flip design, plus the two MS slots. I got mine with the belt clip and use the clip frequently.
At the moment, I've found myself using the Sena case more often than my DSI case. Although I think the DSI case looks "cooler," I've found the Sena case more functional. Like I said, I like the belt clip. I like the feel of leather in my hand more than aluminum. The stylus is also easier to take out/put in with the Sena. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I've actually scraped the paint off of one area of my upgraded stylus by using the DSI case.
Actually, I'd recommend that people have at least two cases: one metal and one leather. Depending on the situation/mood, it's nice to be able to change cases. The DSI really shows off the Clie much more because it leaves the entire front face open; The Sena case covers just about everything except for the screen.
FYI, there's more discussion on cases here (/http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43).

My T665c took its first real fall last night. It was in the DSI hard case. I missed the inside brest pocket of my coat and it fell about 4 1/2 feet or so to a carpeted floor with a very sickening THUD. The memory stick shot out across the room but the case did not open and Clie was just fine.

Actually, most of the time I keep my Clie in the DSI hard case, and then I put the DSI hard case inside of a soft leather case (don't know the name, picked it up at Staples, its a universal type thing that also holds my keyboard). Then the whole thing goes in my purse. The only time I go with just the hard case is when I want to travel extra light (ie. no keyboard or purse).
This is THE BEST protection I've found. Only downside is that you can't whip the thing out extra quick when you are in a hurry.

I'm about to order the DSI case after the recommendations of you guys (if I'm dissappointed you'll here a knock at your door) but which case colour should I get, the silver or titanium? Only seen the silver one so I'm not sure.

thats what I was thinking. The colour of the titanium that they have on their site doesn't look like it would complement the SJ20 to me.

I think the Silver looks very slick I have seen the titanium color at the CES show.
The titanium unit has a black latch to hold the Clie in. The silver unit has the white latch.
Hope this helps

so you're saying silver right? Although a black patch with my SJ20 doesn't sound so bad. It does have a black inner case unlike the white of the SJ30. In fact hte main reason I choose the SJ20 over the SJ30 was looks. Colour doesn't bother me right now.

Does someone know how to put a permanent design on the DSI case? I'm pretty sure this was on a thread before.

This is the only case you need to look at!

Permanent? Like an airbrush? I'm sure that would work.. Hmm.. that might be a project for tonight.. *lightbulb turns on* A coat of automotive clearcoat over top of it wouldnt hurt either.. :D

So I had my first drop test with my Innopocket case.. My girlfriend's 8yr old got ahold of my Clie, she couldnt get the stylus out and was stuggling with it, and the whole unit flew out of her hands and crashed on the table below.. probably a couple feet, but the flap was open. My heart almost stopped.. anyways, the Clie stayed in the case, nice and tight and all is well.
