I'm ready to upgrade from my Palm M515 PDA and Motorola 720i cell phone to the TREO 600. However, is there something new on the horizon that is worth waiting for. Historically new devices are announced after the holiday season. I've been trying to stay current, but have not heard of anything "new" in the smartphone format coming soon.
Anyone have any suggestions or info?
Thanks

Dude,
There is always something bigger and better around the corner - especially with this sort of thing. You just have to accept that what ever you buy today, is going to be outdone tomorrow. But that doesn't make it unusable or any less than it was when you bought it.
What do you want it to do? Does the Treo do it or at least enough of it to hand over your hard earned $$$?
Who knows. I am happy with mine, because I was sick of carrying my Clie T615 and mobile everywhere. I also had to line the two up using infrared to get my mail due to lack of bluetooth. This set up is working for me. At least you won't have to move from a hirez screen to lowrez - though I find the Treo screen does the job.
Good luck in you decision making. It's always a tough one, especially when what you've got does the job already.

I wish the treo had a 320x320 screen... =(
I'm still very very tempted to get one when and if it comes out on T mobile though...
Any chance PalmOne will make a Treo with a hi-res screen? Maybe equip it with bluetooth also??!?! Droool......
I would give up my UX50 for that in a heartbeat....

Perhaps in the future. I would like a higher rez screen and BT as well!
After mapping my use of cell phone and PDA, I found I was not carrying the PDA that much, but I always had my cell. Between cell, iPod, and PDA, I was too loaded - the Treo allows me to carry it and the iPod. :) Sure, I gave up a larger screen, more "power" (PocketPC), but in the end, I USE this Treo a hella lot more.

This is just my opinion, but I don't think you'd have to worry about a new Treo coming out for a while. Handspring's pretty slow when it comes to product cycles... at least when compared to the frenzied pace at which Sony usually releases PDAs. And with this treo, even after it was "leaked" several months ago, my carrier (Tmo) STILL doesn't have it. We probably all visit the same sites for rumors and such, but for what it's worth I also haven't heard a whisper of a rumor of a new Treo coming out anytime soon.

I'm sure everyone would love a better screen. However, the screen is the way it is for a reason. Large resolution screens take more battery power and the Treo 600 is being marketed to the cell phone arena, which means that the battery has to last a reasonable amount of time.
I can live with the lower resolution screen. I wish that they had put more effort into the camera.

I read that it was battery life as well as the thin fonts on a hi-res 320x320 screen were nearly impossible to read in direct sunlight. The external battery pack could solve the the battery issue though, but at considerable bulk. I found a picture here:

I'm not sure if I can handle reading ebooks or iSilo on 160x160 screen however.
