Is anyone having trouble receiving IR beam on the T3? My T3 beams with no problem, but cannot RECEIVE beaming. I HAVE it enabled in Preferences, but it won't work.
After a soft reset, it accepts beaming okay, so there must be a software conflict somewhere. I've tried to narrow it down without success.
Does anyone have this issue? Are there any know conflicts that get in the way of accepting beaming?

Nope. Was beaming things back and forth between a Palm IIIc, a TE, and a T3 the other day and all went fine.
Wish I could answer your question about what might get in the way of beaming. I know my new power saver program - HandyAid 1.5, turns off beaming, but I presume you'd know if you had it. (GREAT program, BTW)

Interesting thing is that I have to get really close to my buddies Clie. But another palm can be across the room, or blue tooth

I have no problem, but anything could interfere. Try shutting off Bluetooth before beaming, if you haven't done so already. Additionally, my T3 beams fine to Clies and also to my Infrared keyboard. I always have that shutoff, until I use the keyboard.

Even I am facing IR prob >1y on my Zire72. Even after hard reset with only the default apps in RAM, IR refuses to work - bothways. And beam recieve will never turn on. looks like a hardware issue(??IR LEDs). Is there any replacement of the (IR LEDs) available??

Are you using piloc or do you have a IR keyboard? Try disabling them first.
