Question for you guys...
I have a long list of apps for my Tungsten E and when I hit hotsync, it can take up to 5 minutes by the time it syncs D2G 6 and Avantgo, and Eudora Mai, you get the point. Is there a way to sync separate applications manually? I know that software like Adobe Reader's desktop application can take over the hotsync process to get optimal settings, so can other programs manipulate this to provide individual syncing?
If not, is there at least a way I can sync Quick Install by itself? With all the apps I install, it gets to be a pain to sync every time.

SyncLive (http://www.synclive.com/synclive.html) can sync individual files on your PDA without doing a full hot sync. Unfortunately, it's not cheap ($32).

You can also do this with Pilot Install (http://envicon.de/e/pinstall/pinstall.html)

Does Pilot Install have the ability to *sync* certain files or does it merely install new programs without syncing (thereby saving time)? And are you talking about the freeware or shareware version?

Indeed Pilot Install can only install applications, not sync some particular conduits. I read too quick. Sorry! :(

If synclive can sync individual files, I was talking about the conduits themselves. I already use Pilot Install for Indv. Files. Is there any program that could, say, sync just Documents to Go 6, and not Eudora, Avantgo, etc.?
Thanks for the other help though

That would be a good application indeed. I have never come across such a program. You could actually do this manually, by changing the settings for hotsync: all programs should be set to "do nothing", except for the one you want to sync. Seems like a bit too much hassle if you have to change the hotsync settings all the time.

What would be nice is an application that supports Hotsync profiles:
You could create different profiles that enable different conduits and select the profile easily from a tray icon.
Some possible profiles:
* Full Hotsync
* Only buildin apps
* Only Avantgo
* Only Docs To Go
...
In the background, the application will enable and disable the conduits depending on their selection in the profile (just some Registry changes, I think).
Now, if someone is willing to create a program for this, I'll just take 20% for the idea! And my name in the About Box of course! :D

Snark definitely has the right idea - If someone was willing to make this a real thing, I would be willing to pay money for it(although I'm always ready to find the freeware alternative first). This would be great for me who forgets to sync until the last minute and then, only wants to install a new app, or update my Palm apps only, etc. If anyone wants help, I'll be happy to help in developing a website for the project, or helping build - unfortunately, I speak fluent HTML, not C or VB, so I'm not much help there. Let me know though - happy to help at any time.

Conduit Buddy (http://www.livepim.com/condbudy/index.htm) might be a partial solution. I haven't tried it yet. But it's free so feel free to give it a try!

GoSync (http://www.zitafarm.com/GoSync23Eval.exe) will meet your need. I purchased it ($12.50 USD) and use it myself.
Download It At PalmGear (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodID=10835)
You can ignore the user reviews because the developer updated the program to work with the new version of Palm Desktop.

YOU ARE A GODSEND, Lance!
Thank you. My HS times have gone from 3 mins. (w/ Eudora, Avantgo, D2G 6) down to 15sec. w/o these apps. The profiles are excellent to use. Thank you to the creator (if he reads these boards).

Every time I have an idea of nice software, somebody already created it! :(
Thanks for the link, Lance. This is great! :)

well, thought it was great for the 1st few syncs, then, it refuses to ignore Eudora and D2G - for ex: I have a sync just for updating avantgo. It syncs Eudora, d2g, then avantgo, and shuts off. don't know why, but every sync, it insists on syncing these 2 apps. Maybe it's a bug w/ the trial version only - haven't bought it yet.
BTW snark, if you were willing to create a free version, i'd be happy to help you out.
Any fixes, let me know, but for now, i'm kinda bummed. :(

I have the same kind of problems, with conduits not selected in the current profile being still synced. :(
BTW snark, if you were willing to create a free version, i'd be happy to help you out. I'm thinking about it, but lack time and probably some knowledge too.

-N I would e-mail the developer with the problems you are experiencing. He has not updated the software in a while, but he may not be aware of the problems.

Is your Hotsync set to the fastest setting?

Ultrasoft NotSync (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=28043) looks very promising. I'll give it a try.
