Recently a application called Receive It was released and to my understanding allows one to accept /receive a file that is other then a Palm extension, like... prc., .pdb, .db, etc.
Now I see a new application called Magic File...
Are they the same, or is there a difference in what they do?
Does anyone have any experience with either, or both??
Thanks
Hi Jeff,
I hadnt noticed that one. The two look quite similar, Magic File may even have a couple more bells and whistles. I am checking them out but have no info as yet...

To my understanding Magic Files is more powerful since it allows you to receive an unlimited number of different file formats and store each of them in a different target folder on the expansion card.

Ok so both receive files via IR, BT, and WiFi???
Do they compress the files or just send them.
Also I dont totally understand this.
So the person who sends it must also have one or the same product to send it to begin with.
Or are they talking about a laptop with a dongle, or BT router, hub sending the files???
I mean you cant hot sync them over..
Even though if one had a card reader , but why would these apps be needed then???
As you can see I what to totally understand these app's and al that they offer.
Thanks

Similar but different concept at the end.
Let me explain how it works.
Firstly, if you have a zip file on your PC at the office, and you would like to bring it home. Palm OS can't receiveit native file like this. This is why Receiveit would help you. You beam/send it to your device from your PC. On the way back home you met your colleague and want to have a report that you have zipped it and store it on your expansion card. If you colleague has Receiveit installed, his/her device will accept the file.
Secondly, your colleague has a Pocket PC device and wants to send you a very important file and you only have Palm powered device with you, if you have Receiveit installed, you will accept that, too.
We are not going to jump in to the discussion which is better, but please try before you buy.
We are developing from the ground up and from the users experiences, so we want to develop a very powerful one.
We are going to publish a beta version very soon of Receiveit v. 1.5 for this community.
All features that are requested by the users will be implemented soon :D
Thank you

Well great thank you for responding.
Please don't take my question as which is better.
I did not mean it that way.
I only wanted to expand my understanding as to which did what, and compare the similarities, as well as the possibilities.
Hope this clarifies my question.
I look forward to your beta version as well as your input to this thread.
Thanks again.
