What seems to work for me is to use D2G for .txt and Adobe Reader for Palm OS for .pdf. If you're trying to transfer them directly, it's probably not working because the Tung. doesn't have txts and pdfs as registered file types. both are converted using their respective desktop software.

Hope this helps.

I got it, thanks. Which is better Palmreader or Acrobat reader. Is 6mb for a single book alot?

I actually have both installed

PalmReader - used for occasional PalmDoc files
Adobe Reader - used for PDFs

I'm actually planning on uninstalling PalmReader because D2G has support for PalmDoc! That's the only reason i use PalmReader.

As for Adobe, I love this for getting a new manual on my device. For example, I have both the manual for my Tungsten E and my Dad's Dell Axim X3 - why didn't palm just make a printed copy???

Adobe handles conversion from pdf to portable pdf exceptionally well. It changes images to the proper size and resolution, formats the page for a 320x320 screen and keeps the structure of the document intact.

Glad you got the problem worked out

PS - depends what the book is. One of the included books, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, is 120k. So, in that case, 6mb sounds like alot. But, who knows - maybe it's just a really thick book.

PPS - My suggestion is to make sure your program of choice has autoscroll, as in Plucker v1.6 (Best Web Clipper!). I don't like the idea of hitting a scroll button every 30 seconds, but that's personal preference.

The book that is 6mb is War and Peace 2880 pages. That was one of the things that made me mad no printed manual. This computer that I'm on. (My own) You can't install anything its because its only a 0kb drive. (I know its messed I'm just delaying the format that I will need to do :(. ) Maybe I can over turkey break. So i had to go upstairs and install it on parents computer. Does Adobe have the autoscroller I havent really read much of it yet. Thats a good idea putting the manual on it. Thanks again.

2880 pg - nice - no idea on the size though - u'll just have to see whether the book is ok, or corrupt, or somethin' like that.

Anyway, Adobe doesn't have autoscroller, neither does D2G, unfortunately.

Although, PalmReader does have autoscroll, so now, it's really a choice of preference. I would just use Adobe for pdfs, D2G for office files, and palm reader for PalmDoc files - lots of apps, but gives you the autoscroll feature. Also, you'll need PalmReader if you download any ebooks that aren't PalmDoc files.

It's not corrupt. It's 17 books total. I read it this summer. What is autoscroller? Does acrobat have like a place for notes? Can I open a .pdf in Palmreader since it has a note function?

What is autoscroller?

This is where the palm software scrolls the text automatically at a fixed rate.

Does acrobat have like a place for notes?

Nope

Can I open a .pdf in Palmreader since it has a note function?

Don't think so, but you can always try on your own.

Also, you're not limited to these few readers. Below is a link to PalmGear's Document Readers section - 189 in all.
