I succesfully updated my T3, now the question remains, I'm still afraid to use my 256mb Sandisk SD
prior to updating, I only use the sd to store mp3s and kinoma movies, and i had no problems with it.
So, after the update, is anyone still having their SD's fried?
just curious :D

Give it a burn.
Try the thing out and let us who purchased cards other then San Disk Cards all know.
I am interested to know if this update actually addressed the fries or not.
I kind of feel they did since on the download page they are instructing people to contact the card manufacture if they "had" a problem.

Prior to installing the patch, I had occassional problem backing T3 using BackupMan even with my Panasonic SD cards in 64 and 512 MB.
I just tried the backup using Backupman 1.4 and both cards backuped the T3 without a glitch.
So it seems to be working.
Now if soemone can confirm the same with Sandisk....

My 256 Sandisk worked fine in my T3 for about 3 days then fried. I'm talking about before the update.

Only time will tell if this fix works. We need to see if people start losing their cards after a few weeks of this update being out. A day or two of use will tell you nothing. I never had errors or anything. Just one day it quit recognizing the card.

Yeah, but who among us will be brave enough to retry their 256mb SanDisk cards? I got a clean/brand new replacement from SanDisk.

Sure I have faith in the update. Sure I like SanDisk. Sure I'm scared to ruin another (what would be my third) SD card.

So, we'll all sit here waiting for "someone else" to try it ...

i fried my previous sandisk 256 before the update. i got the card replaced with an identical one, updated my palm, and have been playing mp3s, and backing up, and restoring multiple times with no problems whatsoever since...

i'm pretty confident it's safe.

24 hours after the update, i jumped in the fire, unlocked my 256 sandisk, did a few backups using botzam, installed a few apps in the SD, no problems... yet? hope it's really fixed :D

Oh, my belief is growing! Do I dare? Should I pull out the new 256mb SanDisk card? It's been sitting over there since it arrived a couple of weeks ago ...

... makes a real nice centerpiece on a table. Not really big enough to be a coaster ...

give it a go!
let's us all 256 sandisk owners be the first survivors (or victims?) after the big update

1) Removed the Sega Classics Game Card I had in the T3.
2) Took the SanDisk 256mb SD card out of the nifty protective plastic snap-case (I previously thought that the case was the best part ...)
3) Put the SanDisk 256mb SD card in the T3.
4) The T3 promply performed a 'soft reset,' without any intiation by me. THAT made me nervous ... but I thought, just maybe, it had something to do with removing the Game Card ... (I really haven't used the game card much, had just put it in the T3 1/2 hour ago ...)
5) Soft reset performed. T3 stared at me.
6) T3 dared me.
7) T3 said "Please. Feed me that SanDisk 256mb card. I'm hungry."
8) I said "What the heck ..."
9) I used PiMoverII to format the SanDisk 256mb card.
10) Process finished perfectly.
11) Immediately went to BACKUPMAN and performed a full backup (about 40mb of data).

IT WORKED! NO PROBLEMS! Do I feel 'home-free?'

Not yet ............................................................ but it's a start ......

:p

OKAY!!!!

Using my SANDISK 256mb SD CARD.

Just performed another forced backup. VERY soon after the previous one. And another. That's THREE. THREEEEEEE.

Does anyone understand what a big deal that is?

Time stamped:

Nov 7 - 9:19pm
Nov 7 - 9:27pm
Nov 7 - 9:29pm

Previously, it had been almost an 'overheating' type of thing. If I had been working with the SD card -- backups, copying, etc. -- and then tried to do a high-intensity backup, it would ...

... keel over dead. Bad sectors, corrupt card ... irritation ... frustration ... $$$$$$$.

So, it's not that I'm trying to corrupt my SD card, but I am doing my best to 'replicate' the conditions that caused the problem before.

It's 9:30pm and the bell tolls. All still seems well. In fact, this is AWESOME. Especially when compared to what I'd experienced previously!!!!!

:)

Hi all,

If some one has a brand new SD CARD to try ,
- e.g. meaning they can go back to the shop to exchange for a new one more easily ... ;)

here's a stress test sample :

- I fried mine (b4 the T3 patch) and had made a replacement from SANDISK to a Panasonic card) , now I dare not try ....

wating for the good news ...

30 hours of fiddling with files in the SD and no problems whatsoever (yet?)
I've made 3 backups in the last hour, totalling of 12 times (10 more times than the 1st time I fried my SD before updating) since i decided to take the plunge, and hopefully this T3 update really cures the T3 from it's severe "sandisk overeating syndrome" :D

btw, both my cards has the serial "0212LR" on the back (the deceased one, and the current daredevil type one)

I fried my 256 Sandisk on a previous T3 and returned it. I just bought a new one and installed the update. After that I started getting faulty sectors while using Backup Buddy. I couldn't believe it. After hard resetting a few times, I noticed an icon for the T3 Update. Ididn't realize that after loading the prc file during hotsync, that I had to run the rom update. After running the update correctly, I have had not one problem with my SD card.

48+ hours after the update
I'm beginning to think the update has cured T3's hunger for 256 sandisks :D
it's over 48 hours since the update, and I've made 30 backups and 10 restores so far (lost count after 20s)
I think these backups would equal 1 month of normal use of my pda, and I've only restored 4x in my 2 years of using my pda experience
So far I'm convinced, the doubt is slowly fading away
hope to hear from all you 256 sandisk users :D
