View Full Version : Palm Wireless Keyboard?
What does everyone think of the Palm wireless keyboard? Have you had a much reduced battery life due to having the infrared on? I've already ordered one from Amazon ($49.99 with FREE shipping!) and I'm just curious how others have made out with this item.
Thanks!

I have had mine for about a month and haven't really found anything wrong. I wished it had a another of keys for the numbers, though.

I've had it for 5 days, so far so good. It does use IR, so it will deplete your batteries quickly. I wish the space bar did not split in the middle, but I am getting use to it already.

Anyone know if a m5xx series PPK will work?
And where could I find the app for OS5?
Thanks

Yes, no problem. Used it with my TT also. Just download the latest keyboard driver from PalmOne.

You just need the OS5 driver :)

Landscape mode sucks. Really.
I am right handed so the screen turns upside down.
:(

Or are you serious...? You can rotate the screen in the opposite direction.

Since their webpage does not offer a driver for the T3.
Which unit should I choose for it to work on my T3??
Thanks

Sure would be nice if someone wrote an app that rotated the screen orientation between the three views by tapping on the status bar. It's a pain to go into prefs and change the handedness every time I want to use the keyboard in landscape mode.

Ok, stupid question...
I downloaded the T2 driver for the PPK.
Now to get it sync'ed and see what happens.
Why wouldn't they include the T3 in the description as one of the units that this driver will work on???
They have everything from, (recommended for Palm Tungsten C, Tungsten W, Tungsten T, Tungsten T2, i705, m500, m505, m515, m125, and m130 handheld users) but no T3???
Come to think about it I seem to remember that most of the drivers, and accessories don't include the T3 as one of the units that work.
This is really starting to smell like a beta unit!!!

Then I'll need to set the prefrences to Left handed. And that doens't work nice :(
I love it, and I just try to mediate the battery issue by turning the Palm off immediately after I've entered a note (I tend to take occasional notes in meetings). I figure the extra IR load is balanced by not waiting 3 minutes for the screen to turn off.
I haven't done any official tests, but I've used it to take notes in up to a 3 hour meeting without a full charge beforehand and not had the machine be instantaneously ready to die at the end of the meeting, but exactly how much charge was used I don't have a clue of.
I'm also annoyed at times by the lack of a number row, but I'm surprised how quickly I'm getting familiar with both the split space bar and the colored function keys. I would wholeheartedly recommend this keyboard.

What are you talking about???? What do you mean the T3 battery life sucks? Blasphemy! Bring out the torches!!! (Do I sound like a T3 Fanatic already? :D)
So far my T3 seems behaving itself with regards to the battery. I read an ebook for 2 hours and the battery has gone down from "100%" to "72%". I had the lowest brightness setting and the slider closed.

Well in my opinion the battery could be better.
My NX80v seems to last alot longer then my T3.
That said I have also seen worse.
So I guess the battery charge is not an issue to me at this time.
When the battery starts to get older well then it will probably bother me.
But I figure by then ill just have to buy a new PDA!!!

Yeah but we all seem to have a need for speed and that along with a color screen will suck the power out of it.
