I have a T3 which unfortunately has been buggy at best. It has eaten my 256mb sd card and won't sync properly with Outlook 2003. I have been on the phone with tech for hours and they have promised to call me back with a way to solve problems but a week has gone by with no call back. Anyways, I was wondering what everyone thought of the new Ipaq 4155. I have a wireless home network so the built in wifi would be nice. Otherwise I am unsure about it. I am seriously interested in what everyone has to say about the Ipaq and is it a good alternative to the T3? Thanks

I upgraded from the T2 to the T3, gave it a try for a couple of weeks, returned it, and went back to the T2. The T3 just did not give me that new PDA gitty feeling (plus all the bugs needed to be worked out). That being said, I'd want to be able to connect to my home network. I've been pondering the new SD Wi-Fi card, UX-50, and the 4155. I'm a diehard Palm-guy but the 4155 is more than tempting. I wish Palm would produce a T4 with bluetooth & Wi-Fi for the price of the 4155.

As serious Piloteer, I never put PPC in my consideration

I have the same sort of feelings ... plus having spent over $400 on software since the days of my Palm Professional I'm loathed to move platform and don't think I'd get the same type of application availability for PPC.

hmmm...yes, the ipaq is very tempting. I actually started a thread in general about it. About the outlook problem, have you installed the fix?

Yes, I tried all the fixes and updates. Does the Ipaq screen fare well against the T3?

It's transflective too, and good size, but half the resolution.

I have also considered returning my T3 and the 4155 is an oh so tempting choice (for that matter just about all ipaq's these days are tempting). Unfortunately, I have too much money invested in Palm software and the Palm os5 fits my needs much better.
That being said, I think the T3 has been overhyped by the internet media and has some problems including sd card issues, poor mp3 playback via included player, no card mounting, no trustworthy way to backup your system, etc. etc. I'm thinking of dropping down to the TE which might have the same issues but at half the price.

endless comparison... PPC vs Palm
I used to have Casiopeia E115 but I dislike the OS, it not main for handheld, totally un-userfriendly. I was been tolerate for a year before I switched back to Palm M505.

I thank you all for the replies. I know it is an "endless debate". I'll decide by tomorrow but I am leaning towards staying with the T3. :D

I have had both the T3 and h4155. I returned the 4155 today for the T3 again. The size of the 4155 was great, however that was about it. I used Pocket Informant, which I believe to be pretty reliable software, and I was resetting the 4155 several times each day. The Palm OS just can't be beat for stabliity. Stay with the T3!

Larry,
What got you to switch from your CLIE(s) to the T3? I am unsure about switching from my UX50 to the T3, although I am VERY tempted! I would love to get more responses and finally make my decision about this.

You'll throw that HP4155 away after you have to deal with Activestink. To bad PPC don't come with HotSync.

I don't know, but the majority of users here have either had zero experience with PPC, or used older versions. WM2003 (PPC2003) for me has been very stable. I have the HP h2215, and it has been great. Activesync is very stable, I never have problems with it. It is FAR more powerful than hotsync. To be honest, I think that both active/hotsync have been equally reliable.
Moving on, the 4155 is a very nice device. It is very fast, a lot of memory, and the size is amazing. It incorporates dual wireless and SDIO-enough for most to be content for more than just 6 months :p
I've had my fill of Palmsource devices. With the bad rep that the T3 is getting about the SD cards, horrid battery life, and the screen issues, I'm surprised that people don't hate on them more. But I must say that the T3 is a very attractive device...
I'd say check out the 4155. You may be surprised. Btw, people who have said that they have to reset several times a day are either lying, installing new software, or don't know how to manage memory on a PPC, which is quite simple. The unit can slowdown if there are a lot of programs running in the background, but thats the cost of having true multitasking capabilities. I have to reset my PPC once a week or maybe 2-3x-not because I have to but because I feel that it is nice to clear up the memory, just like a desktop.

Before I decided to purchase T T|3, I did consider on UX50 which come with additional WiFi feature. However, when I really see the actual unit of UX50, I do not think I could be tolerate by such tiny display particulary I am former NR/NX user.

I know exactly what you are saying about the screen size of the UX. But by now, I am already used to it, since I use it a lot.
The factor I am having trouble with still about switching, is the instant compatibility with my Cybershot cameras (which is basically a once-in-a-while thing anyway).
Also, how do you T3-ers carry your T3s? I am interested to know if many use a case, cause the UX has a 'case' built-in with the clamshell and I can put it in my pocket without scratching or dirtying the screen, etc. I would really not want to go get a case for the T3 and make it larger to carry around and defeat the purpose of being able to 'whip it out and check something real fast'.
Believe me, I am really tempted to go out and get a T3, even to try it out for a week and see the difference and if I will REALLY miss the compatibility with my camera and miss the WiFi.
Any more good reasons to change over?
This info is a great resource for me. Thanks to everyone that contributes. It would really be great to also hear from people that have made a switch from a CLIE to the T3 and why.
Thanks again!

My boss has a ux-50 and I own a T3. I would not give up the ux-50. I would have bought one myself but can't really afford it. The T3 just lacks too many features that a clie owner takes for granted (card mounting, backup utility, good mp3 playback, etc.).
Couple this with the sd card issue and I don't think the T3 is all that spectacular. Nevertheless, there are things I enjoy. It is easily pocketable. It uses the same kind of leather cover that the T series clie uses so the screen is protected without the need for a bulky case, the 52 megs of useable makes memory management a non issue, and the screen is very nice (although I find myself using landscape all the time and think Sony may have been on target by dewsigning a landscape only device).
