I have the Sony Wifi card for NX70. I'm using a Linksys wireless router at home. So far everything is great - full net browsing, wireless hotsync, etc.

Now the question: The place where I work has a lan with net access through a gateway computer hooked to satellite for up & downlink. Can I use a USB wifi adaptor on my desktop and still get to the net or do I need to get a router?

Here is a couple of threads, there are more. These two mostly were in the Adhoc mode concerning USB. I believe USB was doable from what others have said.

A separate router is probably faster and more efficient. I am no expert and have repeated from others.

USB WiFi adaptor with your desktop properly configured to NAT/PAT (such as ICS in Windows) should do the work.

You can also put in a router (with a wireless port, I imagine) if you want. But if you go that way, you will be connecting your desktop behind the router.. Hmm.. Your desktop's network connectivity may get affected by the router's NAT/PAT capability. For example.. you might not be able to run... Netmeeting, ICQ etc. etc.
