Hello,

My classmates jumped on the T3 bandwagon because it was supposed to be useful to us in the future in the healthcare field so here...voila, I have a T3. Never used a PDA before...but I've been following some of the forum issues and I was hoping you PDA users could give me some advice.

1) I've gone to the Palmone site and downloaded the outlook conduit and security patch and even the updated webbrowser software. I have no idea what this Java software is...so I ignored it. (The updated webbrowser seems unimportant to me because I have no access to the web via a bluetooth phone nor do I have a Wifi SD card). I've also downloaded and installed T3PowerOnBugFix.

Question: Is there anything else I've missed downloading that is crucial to the running of my PDA?

2) Ordered a Lexar 256MB card. I have no idea what percentage of the T3's out there are having this SD frying issue, but the store does recognize this problem...and they told our classmates that Lexar's haven't been giving their customers any problems yet.

3) I downloaded some pictures (JPG) via quick install onto my palm. Where do the files go?

4) Right now, my palm and computer are sync'ed. However, I'm thinking of reformatting my computer and just reinstallying all the PDA desktop files on it. Will my palm update my computer or will my computer delete the stuff on my palm?

If you reformat your computer and reinstall the Palm Desktop, you can have your Palm put your PDA data back onto your PC. Before hotsyncing, change the hotsync options (under Custom) to "Handheld overwrites desktop." That way, your handheld data gets sent to your PC.

Regarding where photos are located... are you talking about on the SD card? On an SD card, photos are located in DCIM/Palm Photos subfolder. If you're not talking about on an SD card, then the image is in your RAM.

Do you have a file explorer program on the T3? If not, you should get FileZ. Its a nice one and its free.

On item 3 - you can't put jpegs in memory of the T3, so the files are not there at all. If you don't have an SD card yet, you can't use non-Palm files (must be pdb or prc)

Thanks for clarifying item 3.

Thanks ojleblanc for the recommendation of FileZ. With FileZ, I do see the three pictures (JPG) on the RAM of my Palm.

Apparently, when I load up Photos, the palm automatically detects the JPG files in the RAM and loads them up.
