Check out this new launcher - Comet Launcher.

http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/CMTn/index.html

It allows display of current time, calendar, and appointments all from the launcher. It really takes advantage of the large display of the T3.

I've just started playing around with it. Could this cause me to desert Zlauncher? Noooooo! Just when I settled on Zlauncher something new and cool like this comes along!

Go here http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/CMTn/index.html and download and unzip this file CMTn01a.zip - it's towards the bottom of the page - and install this file on your T3: CometlnchENG.prc

I like this launcher so far - very customizable - how do you change the background to a jpeg on the T3????

It is in the beta stages so for now its free.
I think the beta expires 12/15/2003.

I'm afraid it is in japanese, and I have no idea what it is saying
:D
I like the simple looks of it though, but i guess i'd wait until it's proper release

You can translate it with Bablefish, although it doesn't add a lot to it. (I can't post the url, as my brilliant company blocks access to the site).

It looks good, I loaded it up, and it is obviously very very Alpha. The sad part is I am really hoping that ZLauncher incorporates the calendar and datebook views.

Currently I have run through some scenarios with the launcher. Either these will be fixed before release or they are support issues.

Handheld Device Used: Tungsten T or T|T

Wallpaper Support, after posting an image, the toolbar becomes unstable.
- when using the DA, Comet Capture, I can capture an image viewed in a freeware or shared image viewer, when the DA is accessed from a Application like McPhling.

Suggestion: More stable support for non - Sony OS 5 devices.

Theme SDK, currently I see no posting
- when I review the site there is no indication of support for theming, be it colors or skinz.

Suggestion: Offer an SDK

DA Support, limited amount of options
- currently the only files I see are clocks (analog and digital) calendar, today (daily schedule), shortcut bar, and clippings (image capture).

Suggestion: Offer an SDK that would people to create all sorts of possible options (examples, media bar (play, stop, etc.) or theme manager, file manager.)

Transparency Support, currently does not support resized icons that use an unsupported transparency code (color).
- currently when I resize the icons I see pink or green backgrounds where I should only see at worst a horrible jagged outline of the icon.

Raves,

Drag and Drop, shortcut bar,
I love the idea of being able to move my shortcut bar all over the page if I so choose.

Today (ish) Frame,
This is another welcome feature that I have always enjoyed, although it would be nice if there was more management over width and what action items are displayed.

Sound Effects,
Never seen much sense in this but at the same time I am sure its better than the default click noises that I get with the default launcher.

Wallpaper Support,
currently unstable at least on this version of the OS and Hardware type.

Multiple Icon Views,
again a feature that I love in relation to the small versus large option offered with the default launcher.

Additional DA,
The addition of a clipper and image capture tools is nice.

Theme,
overall the default theme is very simple but at the same time very well organized.

Overall I like this and am looking to see if they get the above issues resolved and at the same time the price is right. Personally I just hope this doesn't go the way of Launcher X.

Thanks,

Tried this out on my T3 and T/E. Love that calendar, clock, and Today view. Sent the link to ZZTECHS. Hope they add those to the next ZLauncher update. But I've gone back to using ZLauncher. Still better. But Comet Launcher shows talent.
