Excuse the newbie asking, but do all SD Cards self destruct when in a T3?

Why will my Acrobat reader only want to go onto my SD card that I'm afraid to buy?

NO - not all SD cards get fried in a T3. This really only efects a few users, Using SanDisk's, doing heavy writing to the card.

Stay away from SanDisk of any size this includes re-branded SanDisk that might be Lexar's and others. Anything made in Taiwan is probably a SanDisk. You'll have a much lower risk of any problems not using a SanDisk brand or re-brand.

If you stay below 256mb (128mb or smaller) you are better off.

Use a card reader for transfering files, do not HotSync files to the card, especially large files.

Do not Backup to a SD card using third party software, this causes major writing to the card. Use Palm's Backup + 64mb for this if you need a card backup.

Keep the card "read only" as a final precaution until a patch comes out.

Go for Japanese made SD card will be fine, Panasonic and Toshiba is the best choice.

In fact I'm using Hagiwara (Toshiba chip) 512MB SD card and does not encounter any major problem.

Regarding the backup, suggest you read this thread @ here (http://www.palmonecity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=267&highlight=backup)

Also don't overclock or underclock your T3. It's obviously not confirmed, but a lot of users who have fried their cards tinkered with the processor's speed

I fried my 256 Sandisk by doing absolutely nothing to my processor speed and was never doing any writing to the card at all except backup twice.

If you read all of the posts you can find, you will discover that it has happened to many people with many different cards, many different sizes, and different uses.

Having nothing better to do than surf the boards and be mad at Palm, I can at least share my acumulated knowledge with you. You are not safe using any brand of SD card in your T3. Being "careful", locking the card, writing small files, etc. doesn't make you safe. You certainly don't have to be doing something exotic or "tinkering" with your OS to have it happen to you. I didn't ask for it, and I don't think blaming the victim is appropriate here. Palm has admitted the problem, and suggested SD card abstinence, in several direct responses to unhappy customers, myself included. Technical support is quietly suggesting that we not use SD cards and hold out for a software patch. They released a SD patch for the TTE and the newest Zire a few days ago. This SD issue has been exceedingly frustrating and expensive. Many of us have lost, and more will lose, pricey cards and data. Palm has been irresponsible in its actions and unforgivably unsupportive in its response to our problem. We can only commiserate with one another on the boards as we wait for Palm, or a sharp third-party developer, to resolve the problem. In the mean time, mitigate your damages and don't fry any more SD cards in your TT3.:(

Sure about that, cause that's a new one to me...
I am doing both over and under clocking, and I have not fried my card as of yet.
Now I have a 128 MB Toshiba card, running now for about 1 month not fried it as of yet.
I have been experiencing the sector errors but I think there bogus.

It seems that reported SD card are all manufactured in China and Taiwan (even for PPC)

See statistics -> http://sdprob.aximsite.com/

if your SD card is having the same serial number as listed in the site suggest you stop using it with your T3 until the patch is available.

Proof : I fried my SANDISJ 256 MB, and the serial numbers are listed there ... ;(
