I been reading about all of you who lost your cards to your t3 & been really careful to keep it locked, hoping that would help. I used it for docs to go a few times & Friday evening was updating a word doc & its useless now.

Without reading all the posts on all the threads what is my next step to obtain a working sd card?

Thank you

Jon

Hi,
I fried my card a week ago. It's a 128MB San Disk card I had for a year or so. I called a SanDisk Rep. and he told me that all their cards carry a 5 year warrenty plan. I sent him the card and am now waiting for the new one to arrive. I suggest you do the same. By the way, I never said what caused it to fry, although I think it would not have mattered.

Do we just call Sandisk for a return? Did you have to provide proof of purchase?

How could he have not known what fried your card?
I figure eveyone on earth that is involved with the SD market knows of this\\e T3 problem by now.

How long were you using the card and T3 before you fried it?
Days, weeks, hours???
What brand was it?
Thanks

You can walk into any Circuit City or Staples and get a replacement card, usually with no quetions asked. Don't tell them that it was in a T3, that's all.

Yeah but how long before the stores begin to stop that policy SD cards?
I figure they will be rethinking their policy on the cards since its not a product manufacturing defect.
I think that they will start to direct SD returns back to the manufacture, or for that matter Palm.
They don't care that Palm isn't taking responsibility for the fried cards.

The way I figure it, since SanDisk comes with a 5Y warrenty, and SD has not been around for more than 2-3 years now...you're covered no matter what and proof of purchase is therefore irrelevant. I'd suggest you call their customer service and ask them where you can replace a defective card.

I guess my question is how long before all these companies start to reject or adjust their return policy's???
Lets face it the return policy is against manufacturers defect.
Now I think that would mean that companies defect not Palms!!!
I hope they never to revert to what I think they will do shortly but if they do would the be wrong???

If a mechanic puts oil in the transmission by accident will the auto manufacture replace the transmission as a warranted issue???
I think not.
And more important should they, and is that good financial business sense???
Again I think not.
Opinions we all have them.

Actually they won't be around for 5 years.
They will be replacing their entire stock out to replace the defective cards that the T3's have produced.
Now If I were with those companies I would see about a financial agreement with Palm to offset some of the financial burden.
That would b e a good idea.
There customer base would be happy and they could force the culprit to absorb so of the cost to the card companies.
Would Palm do that what do you think?

I would imagine that if Palm is to blame for what will be known as "The SanDisk Fiasco", and also from all the bad publicity and loss of potential market share, SanDisk will be looking for some sort of compensation which may drag this thing to court. I guess neither companies will admit to being responsible for it. Where as no one in his right mind give up the T3 (or buying it) because they own a SanDisk SD card, It's a breeze to just pick another brand of SD from the rack. I wonder what kind of damage we are looking at for SanDisk (money+reputation).
Jeff, regarding what you said, If the auto manufacturer specifically said that the car is warrented for 5 years, and imposed no terms to it, then yes, I would expect him to comply. "is that good financial business sense?" - I think it is because when I lost my card I decided never to get another SanDisk Card. When They offered to replace my card, no questions asked, I decided never to get a card other than SanDisk (just kidding, but this is what I call comprehensive warrenty) so I would say it cost them some but they were able to keep me as a customer. I also guess that their damage control department will try to make this whole thing vanish without rocking the biat too much, to avoid the bad publicity.

Warranties are against manufactures defect.
This is not a manufactures defect.
We have decided to plug the cards into a (now) none devise that will fry it.
I still feel that the card manufactures are going to point people back to Palm.
Oh and the auto...
If you put the wrong fluid in the wrong place that is user error not the manufactures fault.
What if someone poured gas in the oil???
Stupid but the auto dealer would not warranty the auto.
I guarantee it.
