Anyone been using a battery extender or battery-powered charger for the T3? I fear that the small battery won't last through long days and I will need something to take with me to keep the T3 running. Any recommendations or cautions?

I'm using Brando 9V Emergency Charger (http://shop.brando.com.hk/m5009vcharger.php) as power extender. 1 brand new 9V alkaline almost can last for 2 full cycle charge without any problem.

Can you use rechargeable 9 volts or does that diminish the length of backup time each 9 volt can offer?
Thanks

Just noticed the battery charger...
What unit are you using that with???
You picture is of a V or Vx Palm...
You have a T3 right, and have tried this on it?
The color verse monochrome could make a major difference in results.
Thanks

I guess the Brando emergency charger and another one that I saw somewhere on the Internet must both be pretty small. In fact, one that I saw even had a thing to just hang it on your belt (or maybe on your keychain?). Is yours small enough to carry around with you all the time without it bothering you? (That's not supposed to be a personal question!)
The Palm sled looks a bit too big for everyday use, on the other hand it's rechargeble.

Palm has a battery charger / battery extender that clips onto the back of your T3 (or other device with universal connector).
You clip it onto your palm, and then it actually charges through the cradle because it has a universal connector of its own.
Supposedly, you're even able to hotsync through it!
Thought I'd let you know...
I'm thinking of getting one for regular use, and then getting a Seido 9v battery cable for those trips where electricity isn't available to charge either one...:)

You should look for M505, M515, T, Zire modal which all are using same universal connector ;)

Looks good may be too expensive compare to cheap normal 9V emergency charger :D

You can find them on eBay for around $50. I bought mine on eBay for $49. Not a bad deal. it's really slim and compact.

Just received a 4 cell AA battery extender/charger, and it seems to work great! I like the on/off swith it has, seems well made, and charged up the T3 pretty quickly.

1. That tiny 9v $18 thingy will charge the T3 twice???
2. How long does it take to recharge:
a) while the T3 is not in use?
b) and while the T3 is in use?
3. Can you use it with the small wireless Palm keyboard?
4. Why would anyone buy the Palm Power to Go sled over this?

I bought the PTG sled because I don't have to buy and deal with batteries - the battery is built in. If fits nicely on the back of the PDA so it's convenient and easy to us the PDA while it's charging. And you can charge both the PDA and the PTG sled at the same time, which is very convenient.
Since you can get the sled on eBay for $50, it's not much more than the Brando battery extender after you add in the cost of batteries.

I don't have actual calcuration but approx is about 3 hours+- for full recharge while your T T|3 is in use. If not in use, I think should be 2 hours+ :)

I have the sled and can get a weekend out of mine easy. Now that don't sound like a lot but it's "ON TIME" would be about 19 - 21 hours from a full charge on both the Handheld and the sled to 5% left on just the handheld. LOVE IT and I paid 99.00 (Actually it was free because I have enough points from the Palmone Pays program. ) No more worry of running out of "Juice".

Good point. Not only can you charge the Palm unit and the Power to Go in the cradle, but you can also easily use the Power to Go sled simultaneously with the XT keyboard or with a POTS modem. Unfortunately, the Power to Go sled does not work so easily with the wireless Palm keyboard.
I'm also wondering if the Power to Go sled charges the Palm unit more quickly?

I would have to agree. I tried using a 9V extender, but trying to use the PDA with that thing hanging on the Palm can become a pain. With PTG, everything feels solid and looks sleek.

I would shop around for a PTG sled. I picked up 2 brand new ones off the clearance table at Staples for $35 canadian for each one.

Wow. That's a steal. I paid for about C$70 for mine since I couldn't find them anywhere.
I've got both the Belkin 9V emergency charger (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=1979&pcount=&Product_Id=183288) and the Power to Go sled (http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=P10906U&btnG=Search+Froogle). I didn't have to bring a charger on my recent weeklong trip with both. I actually only used the PTG.
The Belkin isn't that bad. It comes in two parts, one part where you connect the 9V battery has a keychain attached and the other part, where you connect to the Palm's universal connector. When you don't need it, you can easily remove both parts with one on your keychain, and the other elsewhere in your pocket, along with the 9V battery.
Works well.
