Has anyone been successful at getting a bluetooth session to dial a dialup account and then surf the net. Or share an existing Internet session. Example, wife is online (dialup) playing an online backgammon game and I want to come in via Bluetooth and download my emails or so some minor surfing (links in email). Is this possible? I tried sharing out the dialup connection but the DNS is not seen.

Yes this should be possible.
Check out my setup guide at:

I did check out your guide otherwise I would have never knew to share the Internet for my DSL to work at work - thanks.
The Dial up will not work so far (at home). Does the BT have to do the dialing or can it just use it when it once it is connected (like using a DSL or Cable connection)?
This is the thing that pisses me off about Palm Inc (Pa1mone), they never provide instructions for these things. They did the same thing with the SD cards. Their products would not be losing marketshare if they would help educate their customers with how to use the features like expansion cards, WiFi and bluetooth features. They should have someone that scours these boards and make official "How-To's" for using these things.
Now I understand that they have to rely on makers of Bluetooth and WiFi APs and dongles, and I don't expect them to have tutorials on the other company's equipment. THey can have info on using their product with a dongle, with an AP. Their are things that have to be done on the Palm side that we must know.
"once you have established a Bluetooth connection on your PC (or MAC), you must ...."
"to use your Palm Powered handheld to surf the Internet via LAN"
"to use your Palm Powered handheld to surf the Internet via a Dialup"
"to use your Palm Powered handheld to access a PC for file sharing"
How tough is that? So that when people buy their equipment, they can use all of the features without having to spend hours and hours searching for the info to do so. Whew I'm done. I hope someone from Palm will read this and act on it. So far all they offer is Industry fluff and general info that doesn't help anyone that has bought the darn things.

I have actually never tested this connection because I use DSL. In theory it should work. You would enable ICS on the Dialup connection. You would then dialup via the PC. After connected you would then sign on to the Bluetooth LAN.
Looking at your ipconfig page, you show DNS addresses in the Bluetooth adapter section. Did you enter these manually?? Or, did the setup do this? Reason why I ask is, this is usually blank, no DNS IP is listed.

The way we do it with our Clies is with an external US Robotics modem plugged into a Dlink 713P wireless router. Any computer on the network or one of our Clies will initiate the dialup connection. I would think a Bluetooth wireless access point plugged into a router with a modem port, would also be able to initiate the connection. While this is a more expensive alternative, there is no need to have one of your computers on to access the Net with your handheld.

It worked all along. I forgot I had ZoneLab's ZOneAlarm active and it was blocking access. I add the IPs to "Trusted List" and it works great.
