Sorry this was supposed to be the opening line not the thread subject header...

With all the commotion about "recalls, Palm not supporting the T3", Palm doesn't care, etc.. I received this to a request about the SD issues.
Thought I would pass this on for those who have not seem the Palm response as of yet.
They know, they are working on it, and they will release a fix.

Yes I would agree TOTALLY with you.
I sent my e-mail to Palm because I still have time to return my T3 to the retail store.
Since they have stayed in a silent mode I wanted some kind of assurance that there actually ws a fix begin worked on.
I dislike the eh said she said stuff that goes on these types of forum.
I know its a part of the animal but when you invest the kind of $$$ like we all did I think Palm should step up to the plate and admit
(on there web page, or send e-mails to those who have registered) there is an issue and it is being addressed.
They need to work on the customer company relationship if they want to remain #1.
I was a dedicated Palm user for many many years and then went over to the land of Sony just for a break.
I did not like Sony's your only 1 attitude so I return to Palm for???
Well you get the picture.

I also jumped from Palm to Sony attracted by the bleeding edge technology and hype. I then returned to Palm for the service and reliability.

I'm keeping the faith in Palm and I'm sure a patch will be released for this issue. If not.... we'll I guess Zodiac or IQue are still out there

You always have time with retail stores! You can always return it and buy it again. You have all the time you want.

Well I don't think that would make for good $$$ move on my part.
I purchased this T3 for $299.99 with a price match + 50% off...
Could not pass it up.

This is just a typical response from a software/hardware company. It is amazing that they even admited their was a problem, and not just say they would look into it.

The problem with them giving out a date is that if they pick a date too soon, and miss it, they will take a big hit from the community. If they pick a date too far off they will take another hit from the community with everyone saying that is too long.

I cannot believe that this is something that did not come up in pre-sales testing. I suspect that they released early to counter the new Sony UX-50. There has been a lot of speculation that the T3 was supposed to be a OS6 unit and just came out early.

We can only hope (!!!) that they are more than working on it and they have a solution they are testing.

I think that any fix that they come out with may cost use in respect to card reading / writing speed.
Just a gut feeling.

I got a similar repsonse from Palm but my 256 Sandisk card will not work in any device now. I believe it is ruined. I am waiting for an answer now about who is going to replace my card.

Doesn't come with a 5 year warranty?

I just emailed palm, this is the 5th time in 2 weeks, besides 4 calls w/ tech support. My 256 sd card does not work in anything now, I got my tt3 from office max, and I was told by them that Palm "the manufacturer" of the handheld has to resolve this. So I am giving them another chance to do the right thing.

I understand that people are upset but ler me ask a couple of questions.

Do you want PalmOne to provide a patch that doesn't really solve the problem on all hardware or in all situations because the patch was rushed out without fully resarching and testing the solution?

Or would you rather have PalmOne take a little bit more time (probably a week or two). to really understand the problem, thouroughly test it and possibly have to make changes and retest it to get a solution that actually solves the problem.

Based on a couple of decades in the industry, I would bet that this is exactly the trade-off that is going on right now. It is very clear from communications from PalmOne that they are aware of the problem, working on a solution and planning to release it as soon as there is a fix that they are confidant of. In the meantime, they aren't giving dates or explanations because if they run into more problems, prople wil criticize them for not keeping their word on that.

If they don't release a fix in the next two -or three weeks, I will start to get upset. But as of now, PalmOne appears to be handling the situation in exactly the manner that I think they should.

We'll just have to be patient for a little while longer. I do not know all that is involved on what they are doing to resolve it.

Well I would have to agree with you in not testing this T3 product thoroughly
I am not sure where I read this, or for that fact if it was during a conversation with a Office retail store manager on the issues of the T3.
But the feeling was that due to Sony's release and or timing of the UX series, and due to the timing in respect to the holiday's
Palm was concerned that there backs were against the wall.
They did not want to loose out on enlarging their customer base, or loss a percentage of the market, due to Sony's new toy.
The item was rushed, and the product is lacking from what it was envisioned to be.
Lets face it due to this lack of quality testing, aren't we all beta testers???
We buy they fix!
Man when I think of all the chatter for the T3 for the last month.
I don't mean here or in the Palm forums, but on the ClieSource / NX forums etc. they accomplished what they wanted to.
I was a NX80v user, and I justified purchasing this T3...
Now the price could not be beat so I still can justify it, but...
Now I sit here enjoying my new toy / T3, looking forward to it's fix so I can feel like I am investing in a larger memory card without feeling that i am just throwing $$$ out into the fire (burnt card)!!!
But to address the thread before, I can totally understand the frustration of those who just wanted to purchase a PDA, and that's all they wanted to purchase.
Not a PDA beta unit.
Hmmmm maybe I will sync my NX today...
It has a MS, and CF that work...
See yeah!!!!
