Hello,
I' have got a new Tungsten T E, and i have a big problem, i cannot switch off the backlight, like on my old m515. So the Backlight is lit all the time, and battery suffers.
Thank's for help... ;)

I think that the Tungstens since the TT2 are unable to have the backlight turned off via the power button, like other PalmOS devices.
There is a program, called Energy Dimmer, that can help. I think it can even turn off your backlight via software. It can be programmed to dim (or turn off) your backlight after periods of inactivity.

This software is fine, but i cost 9 $, to perform an operation that is basic in m515. So do you hear about a patch or something like this ?

Autodimmer (http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/autodimmer.shtml) can something similar. It's freeware. Not sure whether it works on the T E.

It does. ;)
There's also a program (freeware) called bloff that switches the 'back-light-off' (bloff).
I haven't used any of these programs because I wonder if they are 'safe' - maybe the low voltage going to the leds that light up the screen could eventually damage them.
I mean...why didn't Palm include the option?

2. Concerning the "option".. To give us the opportunity to search the compatible program and be so greatful to its author ?

(i) I'll tell you if autodimmer causes damages on T|E screens, (ii) as soon as they appear on mine

Sorry! Now I understand - how long have you been using bloff?
Does it really improve your battery life? And can you see the screen with the backloght off?

Maybe we should have a phone call in our respective mother tongues ... I don't use bloff. I use autodimmer. Since I bought my T|E, that is last thursday. And it has not harmed my screen... yet.

Oops, sorry, my mistake AGAIN! I didn't read that you were using Autodimmer.
Too much work and not enough sleep :(
Ciao!
