Although I posted a similar thread on the clie-mac forum here, I thought I'd also put one here too. Sorry if this is poor etiquette. In that case the "overseer" can remove this if it is repetitive.

Couldn't be more excited! Purchased the SJ33, my first PDA ever. Have played with my friends' VISOR and PALM unit but now this one is mine. As I write this it is charging so I haven't used it yet. I have a 2 macs: a G4 powerbook running 10.2.1 and an imac at work running 9.2.1.

My question is:
1. What third party software should I get to make my PDA/CLIE life easier? and if you know, please direct me to their web sites.
2. What did you learn while using your CLIE's for the first time, understanding that for many of you senior users, that was probably some time and many PDA's ago.

In advance, I want to thank any experienced CLIE owner for their imput. This board is like coming to a big brother who has a lot more experience than I do right now.

Many Thanks
mark

congrats on your purchase.... i just got an SJ33 myself and couldn't be happier.

a couple of initial thoughts:

register here, it's quickeasyfree, and people here will be more likely to give you thorough answers.
the search function is great on this site... you'll be able to find a lot of good info that might answer your questions on specific matters, and you might discover stuff you didn't even think of.
if you're  a mac user, get The MissingSync.  it's the only/best way to sync your clié with it. i use a pc, so i can't answer specific issues on that. just do a search for missing sync.
check out the "apps" forum... it's got fantastic info on 3rd party applications.  my personal favorite app is ZLauncher... it's fantastic, and there's tons of info here about it.
get a memory stick... it's worth it.  16mb sounds like a lot compared to older pda's, but it'll fill up fast.

enjoy!

I am a registered member. When I wrote the above request I had forgotten my password so it logged me in as a guest instead of registered. Who knew that would make a difference.

I like a 3rd party launcher like Silver Screen you can change the look with different themes and I think it's easier to navigate between the applications http://www.pocketsensei.com/

Buy a memory stick and back up to it and to your computer.

AvantGo is fun for downloading web clipping. I use it for news articles to read.

I'm on my 3rd PDA and can't do without it. I use it so I have all my business and personal notes and information.
