Whenever I turn on my TE, I hear a high-pitched hum. I never heard that kind of noise on my earlier handhelds. Does anyone else hear it on theirs?
My guess is that it is either the processor or the new speaker that palmOne is using, or something is wrong with my TE :(
Any guesses? It is kind of distracting.

Having the same problem. It's indeed very annoying and distracting.
A question about the screen: do you also have the idea it emulates 16bits colours by merging different colours very quickly? It can be seen best in the gray colour of the scrollbar using ZLauncher with the Copperdeck II theme.

Well, I don't notice the hum when I'm playing games. :) In fact, the new style speaker has much more realistic sound for games (and I think I feel a slight vibration), but a rather tinny sound for alarms. Strange
As far the the 16 bit colors, I've gone looking. I've gone into some games that have lots of colors, and I am seeing multiple colors. My old T615C had washed out colors. The TE is just so vibrant that I may not be seeing the difference you might.
Could it be a ZLaunder rendering issue? I use SilverScreen or the Palm Launcher, so I couldn't really compare.

You'll probably find it's the same hum that the T2 and T3 have had - it's something that you get with the transflective screen. If you look at it straight on then it's louder than on the side.
Check the TT forums - there'll be some discussion of it there.

See the FAQ's. My short one is here:

The hum is the DC-to-DC voltage converter/regulator, probably the one powering the backlight. They all hum, some louder than others.
