Couldn't be more excited! Purchased the SJ33, my first PDA ever. Have played with my friends' VISOR and PALM unit but now this one is mine. As I write this it is charging so I haven't used it yet. I have a 2 macs: a G4 powerbook running 10.2.1 and an imac at work running 9.2.1.

My questions are:
1. What third party software should I get to make my PDA/CLIE life easier? and if you know, please direct me to their web sites.
2. Are there better graffiti programs?
3. My first priority is the address book. (Now no more having to turn my macs on to access the Palm Desktop for telephone numbers.) Are there better programs for address books than the one that came with the clie? And will my mac's palm desktop address book synch with my palm.
3a. Should I purchase missing synch or wait?
4. Do I need a portable typing pad and if so which one is best?

5. What did you learn while using your CLIE's for the first time, understanding that for many of you senior users, that was probably some time and many experiences ago.

In advance, I want to thank any experienced CLIE-MAC owner for their imput. Right now this board is like coming to a big brother who has alot more experience than I do right now.

Many Thanks
mark

6. Games? Which are the addictive ones.

wow! i remember my first time!:p

welcome to the light!

here are a couple of suggestions:

first, get missing sync - no questions - others may say wait, but considering you use the best pda and the best computer you may as well invest a little more to use them to their fullest.

second, whether you need another keyboard depends on what you are using the clie for. i started with the first palm pilot and learned graffiti. i ended up being able to write faster with graffiti than i could type on the first keyboards and i haven't looked at one in over two years.

third, one word of advice, watch for the hold button - i am assuming the sj33 has one. i can't tell you how many people have had their clie stop working and the reason is that the hold button was on. i even know of at least one person who took theirs back to the store only to have the tech guy flip the hold switch and have everything work perfectly. the guy felt like a complete nimord.

games are subjective. i prefer word type games and my favorite current is Spellbound. you will find many people who rave about how addictive bejewled! is and i must admitt is have spent many hours with it as well.:D

as far as this fourm goes, this is exactly like you describe. this is the best place on the net to come for answers. the best play here!;)

Get Missing Sync as advised by Bro Parmesian and the helpful mac clie users...they guided me in times of desperate need when I hooked up my iMac with Clie Sj33 and an error window appear.
After downloading the Missing Sync, everything works so beautifully. Kudos to MarkSpace. It's well worth the dough! Anyway today will be purchasing a 128MB MS to download pix and mp3. So will check out if its a smooth transition...

cheers! and enjoy ur Clie! I love my Clie!!!
