Is anyone else experiencing problems with Docs to Go? Whenever I open the app on my handheld, the screen freezes and I have to do a soft reset. Sometimes it's just the docs to go screen with nothing on it and sometimes it's accompanied by the dialog box that says 'please wait...'

I've never been able to open it and have it work. I haven't even synced any of my apps, just the ones that came with the palm.

I has similar p[roblem before when I used QED as my Doc editor. QED tends to name the DOc file in a wired way that will cause DOC To Go to freeze.

Palm support couldn't help me over email. They said to call the support number, so I'll do that tomorrow. But Docs To Go is still not working. I haven't even synced any of my own files - just the sample files that came with the handheld. Is Docs To Go stored in RAM or ROM?

Also meant to add that this problem is with the T|T3.

May be you should consider upgrade to version 6.005

I just called the Palm support line and was on hold for over half an hour before I hung up. Is there any way for me to re-install Docs to Go over this corrupt one?

Have you tried to start DTG without an SD card in the slot? DTG seems to search the card for files every time it starts up. I've had exactly the same problem when my 256 MB Sandisk card was in the slot. Without card, or with my new Panasonic, everything is fine.

Thank you, MissPalm! Yes, the card was the problem. I only had a 64mb MM Card in the slot, but it apparently was why Docs to Go kept freezing. Did you say, though, that panasonic cards are fine? I'd like to be able to access large documents from the SD card.

How are we going to handle upgrades to software included in ROM?

Would PalmOne have to issue an upgrade in order to keep the upgraded version of the software in ROM?

Would it be possible for DataViz to issue fixes or upgrades that could be installed into RAM without having to have the whole program in RAM?

Do these questions make sense?

JackSprat will solve this problem, once it's updated to support the T3

As far as upgrades to apps in ROM like Doc to Go, when you do get an upgrade they install to RAM and that supercedes what's in ROM, case in point is Docs to Go , I upgraded to the Premium edition and it intalled new PRC's to RAM, the ROM versions are still there ( taking up space in ROM) but until the JackFlash folks upgrade JackFlash and Sprat that ROM space is unavailable

Does Jack Sprat allow you to delete the obsolete program in ROM and make that memory available as RAM? Or to save a new program into ROM? Also, this would void the warranty, right?

Otherwise, is there a realistic possibility that Palm (or even DataViz) could release a ROM upgrade?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I'm a stupid guy?

JackSprat allows you to remove a program from ROM and free the space.

JackFlash allows you to move programs into and out of the free ROM space.

Yes - I believe it voids your warranty.

I have stopped using DTG. The Version 5 that was bundled in my T|C was fine, but as soon as I updated it to 6.005, I had the same type of problems that have been mentioned on this thread. I had the "please wait" message too, and it took a long time to load. I too noticed that if I popped out the SD card (a 256MB one by the way), it would load normal. Well, I decided that was ridiculous. I'm not going through compensations like that for a program update that should work. I decided to purchase Wordsmith to use instead. ( I don't need a spreadsheet program at this point anyway, but I very much use the word processor) I have no problems at all with Wordsmith and have the latest version. My T|C is also having reset problems, which started in the same time frame as when I updated DTG. So I'm going to go ahead and put Version 5 back on, but not use it since I have a word processing program that is working fine with the latest version of it.

Only thing I can say is: Until now, my Panasonic card is fine, with DTG and otherwise. But as many T3's have problems with certain cards it is hard to say now that all Panasonic will be fine. I didn't try yet how things are when I have a Word file on my card, edit it with DTG on the palm and save it back to the card. My problems with the Sandisk card began after such an operation.
