View Full Version : Card Backup Restore Failure

Have anyone here successfully restored from a T3 using card backups, eg BackupMan or BotzamBackup etc. I tried today to test the integrity of successful backups from the above programs and restore was not possible with a Fatal Reset during restore.

I note the error occured when restoring the built-in PIMS eg AddressDB, memoDB etc. Palm must have changed the way data is handled in these PIMs and backup programs are not restoring right.

I noticed that the HotSync conduits have Address/Contacts, Calendar/Datebook, Memo/MemoP and ToDo/Task. Should we set these the same eg if Address is Handheld Overwrite Desktop, do I need to set the same for Contacts?

Right now, I can Backup successfully to card but CANNOT restore. I have to do selective restores instead, unchecking these 4 PIM's DB files. I now use a file manager to copy them to SD manually as additional backups. Warning, you'll need both DBs for each to work.

Anyone have any such experience please?

Interesting. I have been using BBVFS to backup daily, but I haven't had to restore yet. Can you do a bulk restore, then set the conduits for Desktop overwrites Handheld to restore the PIM databases?

My case is slightly different than Kenny

I managed to backup and restore by using Backupman v1.30.
But I notice that my birthday is missing after restore, then I need to set the conduits for Desktop overwrites Handheld to restore the Contact databases.

Anybody having similar experience?

No Tanker Bob, I can't. If I do a bulk restore, it would throw a Fatal Reset when it reaches the built-in PIMs namely AddresssDB, DateBookDB, MemoDB and ToDODB. Not ContactDB, CalendarBD, MemoPDB or TaskDB. These will restore fine but if you only restored these 4 (and all your data will seem to be there), you will not be able to BackUp again using Card Backups as you'll get a Memory Line error when it reaches the old PIMs.

Larry seem to see some abnormalities too with the built-in PIMs and will be looking into it as I know he is really fickle about multiple Backups ;-P
