So who's using MiD? Are you using the Talk feature? I don't see as many sound files on their site as for the clie. Also I found WordSmith to be pretty unstable with these files. Changing fonts forces a soft reset (I've seen this mentioned other places).

In 1-2months, when more people have the T3 and have tried out lots and lots of programs, I'll be willing to put the list in PDF format if you guys want me to...

If not, we'll just let the list stay here :D.

According to Astraware, now they are working on Insaniquarium and should be released soon ;

For Billiards, tentatively no reply from the developer.

I sent a number of such emails this weekend and received some nice replies. It seems that Palm hasn't released the SDK for the T3 yet, which is holding some folks up.

I had already emailed the Mapopolis Support. They gave me a link to a thread wherein they are discussing the upgrade to accomdate T|T3. They have a beta v1.18 out, but it doesn't do 320x480 yet. They say it will soon. Here's part of the email they sent:

I am maintaining a mailing list for interested folks, and I'll put
your name on the list. Expect to hear back from me when we have
something to test!

I've put together a status page with a beginning FAQ for the T3.
You can find it at:

http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3948

I've also posted an unofficial version of the User's Manual
at this site:

http://kudzumonthly.com/mapopolis/PalmNavMan.zip

Our latest version, which does not have widescreen support but runs
somewhat reasonably well on the T3 with a few crashes at exit is at:

http://www.mapopolis.com/PalmNavBeta.zip

You'll first need to install the standard Navigator viewer,
which is 1.15, and then install the beta viewer over it. It will work
with any NC maps you already have, too.

Shadow Plan 3.0 public beta has been released in the shadow-discuss yahoogroup. I may put it onto the main website.. I'm undecided. Full 3.0 launch wil be in a couple of days assuming beta goes well, which I assume it will due to all the testing we've done :)

Screenshots are posted to the main website already.

In case anyone else gets confused by Plucker 1.6's description: "Plucker now fully supports high-resolution screens (such asthose found on Sony [such as the UX50], Handera, and newer Palm handhelds [such as the Tungsten T2 and Tungsten T3]), virtual graffiti, scale-to-fit, zoomed images, HTML tables, screen rotation, and more!". It does not support hires+ on the T3 only on the Sony.

I emailed Handmark and here was their reply:

We will definitely be supporting Hi-Res+ (320x480) screen resolutions in most of our products over time. Warfare Incorporated currently supports the expanded area, as will the next releases of MobileDB and 4.0Student. It will likely take a few months to get everything working with the larger screen area.

Handmark isn't a developer, just a reseller/repackager. They will simply sell what others update. You can get better info and support by contacting the individual developers directly.

Tanker, rldunn has had it posted over at Cliesource for a couple of weeks now:

Enjoy! HS2 w/VG is great!

MMike
10-17-2003, 12:09 PM
LanMan,

I d/l the updated HS2 but it won't let me collapse the VG area. Is there a setting somewhere in the program to make it do this?

Thanks,

Mad
Mike

PS - I have verified on my T3 that I have v 2.8a, build 5712 (Sep 12, 2003) and even did a soft reset but still no VG support

LanMan
10-17-2003, 12:16 PM
I haven't yet tried it on a T3, but HS2 v2.8a did allow my to drop the VG on an NX70. Double check the version. It has to be v2.8a.

LanMan
10-17-2003, 12:19 PM
Hmmm. MMike, I see that you were the last to download it from Cliesource, so I would think that you would have v2.8a. Unless, of course, CS has made some change to their HS download area. This was posted by Greg Gaub, the HS2 Yahoo group mod, regarding the T3:

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. The current beta supports high-res+ APIs
by Sony and PalmSource. I'm pretty sure the T3 is using the PalmSource
provided API, and therefore will have support in HandyShopper, both for
portrait and landscape modes (I think). There will likely be a release soon.

You might try posting in that group:

Here are the HS2 b2.8a beta features:

v2.8a beta - build 5712 - September 12, 2003
Features:

Added support for devices with a collapsible Graffiti area (for example devices with a 320x480 screen). Any Palm OS 5.3 device with a collapsible Graffiti area is supported, regardless of the screen resolution or size. Sony Clie devices with a collapsible Graffiti area also supported. Devices with other, non-standard collapsible Graffiti areas are not supported.
Tap+hold in the Quantity field skips the popup list and lets you edit the field directly without having to choose 'Other' from the popup list.
One-handed mode now supports Palm Zire devices that have only the Datebook and Address buttons. The Datebook button is 'undo' and the Address button is 'check off item'.
Fixes:

Fixed the 'Use white backgrounds' option for icons (broken as of v2.8).
Fixed the OK button from the Details screen so that it goes back to editing the item (blinking cursor).
Fixed various problems in the Edit Categories screen (broken as of v2.8): fixed the blank Edit Categories form on OS 3.3 and lower devices; fixed renaming a category; fixed occassional crash (especially on OS 5.x).
Various cosmetic fixes.

Woo Hoo - HS2 VG on T3 SOLVED !!!

I hadn't installed the T3 compatibility files from Red Mercury (found HERE (http://www.red-mercury.com/t3.html) )

I installed the two files from Red Mercury, did a soft reset and HS2 now supports my T3's VG

These aren't Red Mercury files. They are apparently patches to two files in the T3's ROM but Palm has not distributed them yet as updates to the OS.

See the thoughts on this from the developers at Natara:

"It's kind of the "Stupid" thing about how Palm is dealing with this. Those 2 files are actually "patches/replacements" for files that already exist in the T3 ROM (except those files are broken so to say). Palm currently is relying on developers to ship those two files with every product that supports the TT3. Now, what if Palm updates those files again, and we ship with the latest greatest, but a user downloads some older piece of software and then reinstalls older versions? Not a good thing. We (developers) are pushing to have Palm release these two files as offical "patches" like they do when they fix other "broken" things on their devices (like SD drivers, etc.) That way, there is only 1 place to get the files, and you don't run the risk of a user downgrading those files by accident when they install new (to them) software.

I am pretty sure there is only one "official" release of those two files at the moment. "

ZL 3.62b2 is available on PalmGear. It supports the T3 nicely. There are a few outstanding issues pending release of Palm's PinMgr 1.1 SDK, but nothing I've encountered in normal use. The final ZL 2.62 has not been released yet.

I have the updated libraries loaded, so I don't know if it works without them. Most of the updated apps for the T3 use the updated libraries because the ones in ROM weren't ready for prime time. The T3 with its DIA was intended for OS 5.3, but that version wasn't ready when the T3 shipped. So, you need to load the PinMgr 1.1 libraries from OS 5.3 to make the DIA work correctly. It's probably possible to make things work without the updates (ZLauncher does to a great degree), but not at the 100% level.

Yeah, I pointed that out to Shaun. But what you post is only a screenshot on DataViz's site, not a screenshot from an available beta.

If you look at the smartlistToGo group on yahoo.groups (where DataViz first published the link to their survey), you won't find anyone who is using SmartlistToGo 3.0 beta either.

More like a proposed 320*480 app.

Some updates/corrections to the list should be made:

ZLauncher 3.62 isn't out yet, AFAIK it's still at 3.62B2, and it requires the DIA Compability PRC

"DateBook v51as7" should be "DateBk5 v5.1a SB" which is most definately a beta.

ShadowPlan is now at v3.0 and it also requires the DIA Compability PRC

As people have commented, SmartList2Go v3.0 is not in Beta and is not available.

Project@Hand is listed twice, once in database and once in Misc.

Don't take everthing of face value. SLTG 3.0 is NOT available as a beta. What you have posted are just screen shots the developers have released to members of the SLTG Yahoo group as a teaser. So while they may well have early 3.x versions up and running they have certainly not released any beta versions to wanna be beta testers yet. I follow the Yahoo SLTG group and at this stage Datviz are simply releasing monthly update messages on development progress and were seeking input from Yahoo group members. Expressions of interest to test at a later date and so on.

Just thought I'd mention this so the list can be updated. Unless of course someone other than the developers themselves can prove me wrong and really has seen the beta which I doubt.

Good list of apps BTW.

Kinoma player and producer is now at 2.0.4, which fixes T3 landscape viewing problems from version 2.0

Not sure if you had aeroplayer on the list, but if not could you add it? The latest version is 2.10.4. It doesn't support T3 widescreen, but it still functions fine on the T3. I contacted the developer and he said that T3 wide screen support will be available in version 3.0. He stated it would be ready within a month, and definitely before Christmas.

I would like to see Avantgo on the list also. Latest version is 5.3 Build 66. I can't wait until they update this software to take advantage of the T3 wide screen.

Your list might be only software that currently supports T3 320 x 480. If so, could you add a category for software that we want to see updated and the most updated version. If so, could you add Aeroplayer and Avantgo to that list? Thanks!!!

This is what HanDBase's developer DDH Software said:

"Support for the higher resolution of the T3 and other models, as well as the dpad, will be added in the next update, but I don't have any specific details for how the support will be implemented or exactly when the update will be available -- it should be soon."

This is what TinySheet's developer (Iambic Software) said:

"There is currently no support for this feature [480x320 res], but there have been other requests for it too. We will consider it for future versions of the application. Thank you for your feedback."

Good news for HandBase users; TinySheet users may have a longer wait.

Well, TrackerDog indeed does a fantastic job in this manner.
But, as you know, itīs not a replacement for your list.
Iīm only hoping youīre not going to get tired updating the list so often.

Another nice little effect of the list is the program order
as we can see, how fast developers support Palmīs HiRes+.
That musnīt be fair in any way but i think itīs a good sign when a developer/company recognizes how important the bigger resolution for many apps is.

Keep on tracking, Steller

Ok, Billiards v4.3 works in landscape setting CodeDiver to either Force/Norm/Norm or Force/Same/Same.
You can expect most of the table but StatusBar hides the rest.
Any idea?

FirstBase v2.51.01 can be added.
Works fine in HiRes+ and WideRes.

Thank you, Steller

I tried the above settings for billards 4.3. I am able to get the landscape view but I have to perform a soft reset to exit the game. The home icon does not work.

Hm, iīm sad about that.
Home works for me. CodeDiver v1.1Beta6 sets Billiard to Force/Norm/Norm. I can launch and immediately exit as often i want (thatīs what i do most of the time with games).

Have fun, Steller
