Anyone had your 505 quit synching...?

Happened to my wife's a while back and took a bit of searching to find the cure: completely drain the battery.

Never realized that this was such a common problem - until it happened to hers...

Cheers, Rich

I had two 515's replaced because of this. A static charge builds up in the USB control chip and prevents USB syncing. A serial or IR sync still works.

Palm supposedly created an SD card that, when inserted, would completely backup and discharge the unit. When recharged, the card would also restore the unit. I asked for one (they were free) but at the time they hadn't been released yet. I bought a Sony NZ90 shortly after that so never asked again.

I also had hotsync problems that appeared from nowhere. Palm told me that it had to do with static electricity. After much prodding they sent me a SD card which worked. After backing up my m515 I ran the SD card overnight and it returned my m515 to normal -- unfortunately for only 4 days and I could then not hotsync again.

I'm waiting for Palm to return my calls with advice regarding what to do.

how unfortunate...

just to add to my handheld collection, i was planning to get an m505 (second-hand in mint condition) which costs less than US$100.00

Persistence is the key. It took many phone calls, but Palm did replace my m515 with a new (probably refurbished) one. So there is hope. I do love my palm and just bought a GPS Companion to accompany it. When it works, there is nothing like it.

Good luck!
