Think of all the poor sad people in the world who didn't have a palm before but now unwittingly have a powerful OS5 device. :)

People in school thought I was crazy when I started recommending the Z21.

Before, they saw me saying, "No! Don't get the Zire! Just get a refurb Sony if you're not willing to wait for more money to come your way." Now, they here me say, "Your gonna get the Zire 21? GOOD choice. It fits your needs, although it don't have four buttons." :p

The Zire 21 really changed what I thought about the Zire line...

I have to agree - even with the lack of backlighting, hires or color, the Z21 is a great little machine at it's price point. I wholeheartedly recommend it to family and friends who aren't quite up to the whole hi-tech palm experience just yet.

$99 is a steal for any Palm.:)

You don't need color to keep track of your schedules or play games, although it helps.

It uses the same cpu as the T/E.

Whoa, thats quite a bit for a Monocrome... Hmmm Palm should lower it to 75 when they can... if people bought the Basic just think what the 21 will do!

Well, no Z21 users are posting yet... But then again, most people who buy will be nooBs, so we might not ever hear from many people because nooBs are unlikely to sign up for a palm website... IMHO, Z21 won't do quite as well is the Zire Basic.

There is not an official version of Palm Desktop for the Linux platform. However, there are some third-party solutions available. I do not have any experience with any of these, so I am unsure of all the details involved. Good luck! ColdSync (http://www.coldsync.org/)
Gnome-Pilot (http://www.gnu.org/directory/gui/gnome/gnomepilot.html)

Sorry, no backlight on the Z21. One of the ways Palm cut costs, I reckon.
