All -

I had to share this with you...

First, let me say I'm in Texas, and unsure if you have the two stores I'm talking about: OfficeMax and Staples.

Here's the deal - if you go to http://www.officemax.com and click on their Rebate Center (towards the bottom on the right side) - then scroll down to:

" Palm Tungsten E and T3 PDA OfficeMax Gift Card "

Print this out, and then go to Staples. Staples will honor the 40$ rebate as an instant price reduction. Furthermore, talk to the manager and ask him if this qualifies for their 110% price match guarantee.

My girlfriend first got hers at this discount, and then I did as well.

My suggestion is to take the 80$ you save, and put it right back into their 'service plan' which will warranty anything and everything about your new Palm - including the screen - for 2 years. This specifically includes screen breakages.

Hope this saves some of you money...I know we saved a bundle!

Ken

I don't know, but it would be worth trying it - they both have websites...and toll free numbers (in the US) to order from...

If you try this route...let others know!

Ken

I got my T3 already - waltzed into OfficeMax on 9/26 with the stock number & waltzed back out with it in my hand:p Of course, I had a little problem with it so I took it back & exchanged it last Saturday. Tried to get the manager to honor the $50 off coupon that OM had online - no dice. Others had managed to convince OM managers to do so, but it didn't work for me.:( I did get a new receipt so that I could get the $40 gift card, though,

I thought about ordering one online from OM and then returning it (in order to get the $50 off) but decided against it. It would take me too much time - and that's not something I have a lot of.

Thanks for the info, though.

What problem did you have that made you return it? At least we'll be careful lwhen we get our own hands on our own T3s

The area at the bottom of the stylus silo separated ever so slightly from the case rail.

I'm actually thinking I may have to return this one, too. The power button is driving me nuts

I thought the power button issue was a normal issue that's in all T|T3 devices...

I bought mine at Staples. I have to go back to exchange the Tungsten screen savers for NR ones that fit the screen. I'll give the rebate thing a try.

You're going to have to help me out here...

I'm still trying to figure out how this deal adds up to $80 off??

...it's late, though :o

$40 rebate + $40 (110% price match on $400) = $80

Oh...

I guess I've mistakenly understood that 110% price match was just that - 110% of the difference in price. In this situation that would have been around $44 off, not accounting for the minimal original price difference between the two stores.

Oh, well. Like I said, it's late :)

The price match IS on the difference. I am sorry about the confusion. OK, let me try again.

$40 Rebate -> Price = $360
Price difference = $40
110% price match = $44
Final price = $400 - $40 -$44 = $316

(ok I was off on my math the last time. like you said, it's late :) Someone correct me if I got this wrong)

Is this for real?

They give an additional 110% off the competitors discounted price?

Wish I could help you guys out on the math - but our receipts were a bit convoluted - as the manager at the Fort Worth store gave my girlfriend both the 40$ gift card discount, and 10% price match (on Staples' original marked price) and some obscure Lockheed/Martin discount - so she paid ~$279 for hers...

I originally paid ~$360 for mine, and went back in with her receipt, and they matched that price for me since I had her receipt with me - and the manager at the store in Dallas said something about how he had done it wrong, that that discount wasn't supposed to be used anymore, but that she would honor it since I had the receipt showing it.

Since I couldn't duplicate *that* for all of you, I at least wanted to share the $40 + 110% ...

exiii,

Please let us know how this works out for you. I was intending to hold on to my NX70 for a little while longer, but if I can get the T3 for around $320 before tax from a brick and mortar right now... I'll do it today, too!

I'm going to try to save money on my future T3 by returning in my Clie under the Best Buy refund plan. The problem I have with my Clie is an intermittent connection to the standard charger plug. I hope they will accept this as a flaw in the device.

Ok well I have a similar story.
I purchased a T3 from Staples.
They matched a store/.com price.
Upon receiving the unit I noticed a problem with it so I returned the unit to a Staples store for a swop.
The store did swopped it out no problem.
I went to OfficeMax, just to look around, and showed them what I paid for the T3, they matched the price.
It gets better they then took another $50.00 off for there coupon that you can get from their webpage ($50.00 off a purchase over $250.00).
So all said the T3 cost $289.00, and I have a $40.00 gift card coming via mail.
I did not ask for it, I just told them what I paid via Staples and they assumed the rest.

Interesting...

My friend works at Staples, and he said that they don't honor rebates like this...

Rebates like the one in the local circular? Or rebates like the ones on OfficeMax's website?

My girlfriend used the circular, I used a printout from Officemax's website - and then her receipt later for the added discount...

hmm...I just had a talk with the Staples CS...

She said that they DO NOT honor any kind of mail-in-rebates from any store. They only price-match coupons or reductions when it is deducted at the register.

I'm still gonna try and see if they honor the mail-in-rebate for the gift card :p :D

I never got a chance to try this, which is probably a good thing. I really need to wait until this SD card issue is worked out.
