I am new to the Sony pda game and I was wondering what is the difference between the NX and NZ series?
It is unbelievable how Sony comes out with a new pda every other month.

About 30 lbs! :)
.3 megapixels vs 2 megapixel camera (with flash) is one of the major differences.

-A/V output for pictures

Ganz,
The screen on the NZ is considerably brighter than on the NX. I rarely run my NZ screen above 35% now; whereas, the NX was usually above 50% most of the time. It also has a different "feel" to it. It has been said that it has a thicker palstic "anti-glare" coating. I can neither confirm or deny. It does feel different under the stylus.
The biggest difference for me has been the camera quality. It takes decent 2mp pics. My wife's Sony 2mp camera smokes the NZ in the flash department though. To be expected, I guess. It is a nice integrated PDA camera solution with good resolution and features.
Picsel Viewer, while a neat app, is essentially outdated with the intro of QuickOffice Premier and the soon to be released DocsToGo upgrade. Both these new apps will not only view Word, Excel, Powerpoint files natively, but also allow you to edit them as well. Picsel is ONLY a viewer on the NZ. It also takes up almost 2megs in three seperate files in RAM and I haven't had any success running it off the stick. It's only value to me so far is keeping/viewing a number of .pdf based maps off the stick.
The SmartLithium battery is nice. It seems to take a few fullempty/recharge cycles to get it up to capacity, but after that... It also has all the parameters available via a simple tap on the battery icon. Very handy...
USB printing is limited to Epson printers as of right now.
Most are not fond of the cradle or stylus storage method.
The NZ is a great integrated PDA. If the higher camera quality or the integrated Bluetooth aren't important to you , I might stick with the NX. Lookswise I think the NZ has much more snazz appeal than the NX. Feature wise I think it is worth the extra $200, but the big question is "DO you need all those features?"
The other question is "What are they introducing in April?".....
And the question after that is "Will I need to 'upgrade' to that model as well?"....

yep I agree with oneeyesquare
the screen is definitely better whether it be because of the birghtness, or glass they are using, all I know is side by side with an NX70 at the store and I can see nice difference.
It was like this with the NR70 and NX70 as well, NX70 screen was much better then the NR70, so they are making small steps with each pda, but they are not really documenting, which I am surprise because it could be a selling point.
The camera definitely does not compare to my standalone Olympus 2 year old 2 MP camera. The olymus takes much better pictures, but that is becuase it has a much better flash, and bigger lens...still the camera on the NZ90 is the bet on any PDA< and is good enough that I dont mind using and leaving my olympus home when I am not sure if I will need it, especially since my olmypus is much bigger.
also as far as battery goes, not only is it removable, but I think I get much better battery life even with using flash and camera, I have never run down during the day past 50%, while with the NX I usually go down to at least below 30% by the end of the day.
like oneyesquare said, so what is coming out in april and will I need to upgrade again?

btw here is a pic I took of my parrot with the NZ90 indoors with flash, just so you can see how the camera is on the NZ90, I dont know anything about all the settings so I bet if i played with it, quality would even be better:

some nz-lovers said it's as thick as the NX. When they showed a comparison photo between the two... they compared the thinnest part of the NZ(bottom) to the thickest part of the NX(CF slot, top)... I really don't know how is that a good claim that the NZ is as thick as the NX!
the camera on the NZ sticks out like .5 inch already!

The camera body/pda thickness is 1.25" and the reg pda thickness is a little under 15/16". Measured with a tape measure...

I really didn't see any difference in screens between the NR and NX, except the NX had less of a shadow on the one end. Of course the HiRes Icons were really an eye popper on the NX:).
