Is it possible to find a lost cell phone using gps? I lost mine, and my phone company told me that only 911 could locate it IF you were in an emergency. That would obviously require me to call 911 from my phone, so... any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!!

Calling 911 from your phone wouldn't help you locate the lost phone. You'd have to dial 911 from the lost phone and, if you could do that, it wouldn't be lost. In addition, using 911 atuomatically logs your phone number and address with the 911 dispatcher. If you're calling for something other than a real emergency, you can expect a vist from the local police and a severe talking to at best and weekend in jail at worst.

The police can locate your missing cell phone assuming it still has power although as mentioned they probably won't do it unless for example someone you know was kidnapped and you know he/she still had the the cell phone in the pocket... :D

Your best course of action is to call your cell phone company and tell them that your phone is lost, and have them freeze the number. I had to do this once when a phone was "lost", turns out it was in the glove box of the car.
Called the cell phone company back and they were happy to reactivate the phone.
