Ok, I don't know how this happened, but I turned my clie off when I was done using it last, and somehow it got turned on again. I usually use the hold, so I don't know how this happened. Anyways, I get my clie out and after plugging it in, I turn it on to find the thing reset to the factory presets. My question is, how do I get all my info back on there? Can I just hotsync it and all will be fine again? What about programs like weather manager and stuff? All my ZLauncher skins and settings I had? Or heaven forbid my address book?
Am I going to have to reinstall all my games and apps? I know this sounds stupid, but then again, this has never happened to me either.

That's why it's a good idea to hotsync regularly. You can just start a hotsync like you always do and your Clie should be restored to exactly the same state as it was when you last hotsynced. It's a good idea to back up your C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\YourUserName folder before you do the restore just in case something does go wrong.
Being a belt and suspenders kind of guy, I also back up regularly to the memory stick. It's good insuarnce in case something goes wrong with the normal PC-based restore and you can restore your Clie when you're on the road and away from your PC.

Well, I do hotsync regularly, but never to my memory stick. Good idea though. I'm gonna have to give it a go and hope for the best. Thanks!
you might want to consider this as well: if the internal backup battery (not the replaceable one) is low or even almost dead, it is very likely that a loss of memory can happen when the interchangeable battery runs down...
Occurred to me once... So charge once in while much longer even if the orange light has gone off!

Keep this in mind: Hotsync'd data isn't complete It only backs up certain files (can;t remember at the moment what it leaves out, but other ClieSource Spinners have informed me of this and it does hold true).
In order to backup everything, you need to use MSBackup (or another backup program, if any) to the Memory stick.

Try Backupman as well, it has saved my arse so many times!
I back up to a memory stick that is not kept in the unit, so that if I lose the unit, I don't lose the backup. I use BackUpBuddyVFS free version. And I have a second unit that I use, just in case... Am I covered or what?!?!

Adding to all really good ways, just having a backup on one computer and a Clie can hurt you too, after all the computer is running on Windows. When ever I backup my documents from the computer I add the Clie folder or export everything from the Palm Desktop software and burn a CD.

In order to backup everything, you need to use MSBackup (or another backup program, if any) to the Memory stick.True, you really should install SyncAll (http://www.freewarepalm.com/communication/syncall.shtml) to make sure all your files get hotsynced. This does tend to make Hotsync a bit slower (since more is hotsynced) but I really like having my hotsunc being complete. I don't understand why this is not a setting you can select in the preferences. Now files need to be tagged for hotsync so if a programmer forgets to do this (and soooo many do forget) you don't get that data backed up in a hotsync.
And of course make a backup on MS now and then. A backup on MS can always get you running again when you run into a hard reset and you won't get near your PC soon (like on vacation or something)
