Alrighty guyz, got a chance to play with the Sony Ericsson P800 of a friend of mine and finally I've decided to give it an 8 out of 10! And because of that, ive decided to sell my clie but i need your help to decide...

Currently:
Im using my t68i together with my clie NR70V. Ive been using them for about two years now. Ive been able to do lots of things with them together since. I bought the bluetooth stick for the clie and i thought i had them all. Problem was i kept on changing between my mp3 dedicated me stick and my aps dedicated memstick and my BT memstick which i found time consuming(hehe, its really not that bad at all, im just one of those gadget perfectionists.)
I was now able to multisend text messages through my clie which was very useful to me. I could take pics on my clie and send them to my phone via bluetooth and send them to people through MMS, that way i need not buy the cam for the t68i. I was able to back up all my phones phonebook. I could also search for a contacts name on the clie, click on it and it will automatically dial the number on my T68i, which was fantastic for me, especially since I didnt have that much signal at home. What I would do is leave my phone by the window, at the top for it to get good signal then I take and recieve calls via the bluetooth headset, for outgoing calls, I just tap the number on the clie and voila!

Now thest were the functions I kept in mind when I scanned through the functions of the P800.. so far, it could do everything, and it was way faster than the T68i.

So here are my pro's and cons on the P800:
Pro's(as a phone):
I can Multisend SMS
I can browse, check email etc...
I can go to contact person and from there i can click on the number to dial, email ad to email, URL and it will automatically browse, and buttons for sms and mms
I can have wav as a ringtone.
take pics with 4k colors and @ 640x480 size and send them as sms, or email attachments.
I can still use my BT headset.
Pro's(As a PDA)
I can open/edit word and excell documents.
I can do the normal things to do stuff.
I can make an entry on the scheduler repeat by month/day/year/etc.. same as on my clie
I can listen to Mp3's and expand my memory(memstick duo.)
I can record and watch video's same as kinoma(i think.)
I can take notes down the way notepad works with the palm os5.

Cons as a Phone:
Size is big. but then its a pda and phone in one right?

Cons as PDA:
Cant use some aps that i always use on my clie(palm aps)
aps like:
Worldmate which has world time and currency converters.
Datemate, a program for specifically remembering birthdats and annives, also gives you your contacts age.
Splash ID, which stores passwords, log in names, credit card numbers and all that private stuff.
Omni remote or the Clies built in remote, of course you can operate all your remote controlled appliances through your pda.
Id rather use the Palm scribble than the jot thingymajig...

Well thats about it for now, thats on top of my sleepy head that is...
Laslty, if I do get the P800, I will most likely get a lower end palm OS device, one without camera and mp3 function anymore and hopefully with built in blue tooth.

If I sell my NR70v this will be the package:
P1=$54.5

SONY CLIE NR70V with Camera and MP3 player for sale.
Comes with:
-The original Box, which has the Cradle, remote control and headset for the mp3 player, manual, installers, charger etc..
Also comes with:
-Sony Blutetooth Memstick
-Two original Sony 128mb memsticks
-Wall Charger for travelling
-Two leather cases(Flip over the top and flip sideways with zipper.)
-One Aluminum innopocket metal case.
-Plus all the apps lots of aps.
The retail price for all of these right now would be around P65,000.00=$1,192.66 (not including aps)
Im letting all of these go at
P40,000.00=$733.94.

So what do you guys think?

I would be shocked if you could get that much for your NR70V. You could get an NX70 with almost the same amount of accessories for almost the same price. Depreciation, unfortunately, is a wicked mistress, and that's why I plan on running my NR70 into the ground....

... or giving it to a loved one ;)

Is Symbian 7.0 the successor to EPOC? If so, what's it like?

The P800 is quite an impressive smart phone. I saw one a few days ago. However there are some cons which you left out or unaware of, the main one being that it uses for storage a new smaller MS which currently has a max capacity of, I think, 16 MB. Bad, but not much of a problem considering the scantness of software available for the phone at the moment. In general, it seems that one of the main problems with Symbian at the moment is that the phones using the OS are so vastly different that there won't be programs compatible between different devices, so a Symbian program for a Nokia Communicator can't be used on a Sony Ericsson smart phone. Or am I wrong?

I'm also a NR-70V user, and although I love the device, I'm tempted to upgrade to a TG50 plus bluetooth phone combo, perhaps in say six months time. I find the TG50 to be quite a attractive looking device with bluetooth built in. Giving up the camera and larger screen is a bit of drag, but redeemable due to the presumably better battery life.

Well, ive really added a lot of depreciation to them already, considering that the newest Clie here in the Philippines is still the NX series.. And the a brand new Clie NR70v would still be Php 30k the price i have give are pretty reasonable here, in the Philippines :)

I have also considered the aps that i need and found out the 16mb will already be more than enough. But i would indeed purchase and extra one for my Mp3's. And a 64 mb is already available http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_BrowseCatalog-Start?Dept=acc&CatalogCategoryID=02IKC0.NtIgAAADzjZEV6pST
But still there are aps that I would miss and those are the ones that ive listed above on the cons part :) Note by the way that 16 mb provided is already on top of the built in 16mb (12mb rom and 4mb flash, i think :) )

Anyway, here's the breakdown(Currency in Philippine Peso):
Sony Ericsson T68i @ P10k (Selling right now is aound 15-18)
- Tri band
- Bluetooth

Sony Clie NR70V - P25k (Selling is around 30k without any accesories)
- With Camera(Came with the box)
- Mp3 Player(Came with the box)
- 320x480 full screen
- Lots of Aps!
- Desktop Charger(Came With the box)
- Wall Charger (Additional accesorie)
- USB Sync n Charge Cable(if i can find it its yours :) ) (Additional Accesorie)

Sony 128 Memory Stick @ 4k each( Good as brand new, selling now is 5k)
Sony Bluetooth Memory Stick @ 7k (Good as Brand new, selling now is 12k)

Things you can do with these to gadgets:
1.) you can text and multi send text to your friends, yes sir, just one message and send it to multiple contacts (like an email list)
2.) You can dial from your clie and it will automatically dial your Ericsson T68i so its easier to manage your contacts. You can do this via bluetooth.
3.)You can surf through your clie
4.) You can Connect your clie to you Local Area Network.
5.) You can take pictures of anything, anywhere you are!
6.) You can also use MSN messanger on your clie

I have a NR70V and have also tried the P800. I'm also familiar with Symbian as I have had a Nokia 9210.

The P800 is pretty nice, but as a PDA it cannot be compared to the NR70. But I have a friend who has made the change from NR70+T68i to the P800, but he isn't a "heavy" user. He noticed that he didn't use the NR70 to its full extent. The P800 is just right for him.

For me, no way! There's no Datebk5 for Symbian! No YiShow or Zlauncher, no SprNames...
That's why I have to carry two devices all the time, the NR and my Nokia BT cellphone. With BT I get the same connectivity as with a P800 (and better than with a Nokia 9210).

If you are a heavy user and can take advantage of the wide range Palm OS offers, don't change!
If you just need an easy connection, wap browser, email and a basic organizer, then maybe Symbian.

Thank you Hedlasse :) I think im not that heavy a user. I have analyzed the aps that ive been using and most of them are on the P800. There are only a few more left that i'll missing on the palm O.S. like Bible aps, and Birthday Tracker like datemate. For the rest, i have found aps for the symbian already on the sites I have placed above :D I guess im really going to try out this P800 and if I really find out that ill be missing more then maybe Ill get simlper PDA with built in bluetooth, preferably from Sony so I can share the MS. Thanks for all your help everone, and Ill make sure to keep posting here and on the wireless section of course :) Im not going to get the P800 thought until I sell my Clie. Wish me Luck! :)

How have you had these for two years?? Do they come out in the phillipines like a year before the US? :D

I wouldn't be surprised. They come out with everything overseas before they introduce it to the US market. It sorta gets on my nerves, but it's not like I can afford the stuff anyways :D .
