I'm wanting to know if anyone knows of a good, secure checkbook register application. I rarely have my checkbook with me, but I always have my Debit Card and Clie. I'd like to keep track of my finances, then when I get home write them into my register. Out of paranoia and security reasons, I do not want a program that requires synchronization with the desktop.
Thank you!

How about Checkbook by Ultrasoft 2.1. (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=20A81C8C-9DEC-4768-BA3D32A9A8D66471&prodID=28041)
It lets you export checkbook data if you want to, but it doesn't sync with any desktop application.

I love SplashMoney. If you used it, you could turn the conduit off (I don't have a money application for it to sync with, so I have it off) . . . it is password protected on your PDA.
I use BankBook 4. It has a desktop conduit, but you do not have to use it.

I use Quick's MyCheckbook. It's a piece of freeware that doesn't sync to the desktop, but it does export data that you can convert into a spreadsheet.

What desktop utility are you using? If you are using Quicken, then Landware's Pocket Quicken is the best choice. PQ provides seamless sync'ing with Quicken. It is the only Palm utility that Intuit endorses.

I really like "accounts & loans":

Yes, it works perfectly with OS5. That was the only program that I was afraid of losing on my crossover from 4.1 to 5.0 Its a great program, and its free! No hi-res+ tho, but for free, its awesome.

Thank you very much for all of the ideas and suggestions, and I'm going to try some of the applications out. Ideally I'd like to get a secure checkbook application, so if I somehow lose the Clie, I'd only be out a PDA and not the important data on it. I've been looking at the SplashMoney software and I may go with it versus the free MyCheckbook program.

Why protect just your checkbook application? Use a PDA locking program (like Easylock) that will require a thief to Hard Reset. Then use a backup utility that can encrypt the backup (like BackupBuddy) that's one the Memory Stick.
