What is good Data Base program, with a good interface that is easy to use. I was going to buy JFile v 5.x. I keep track of HVAC/R equipment and make notes for material lists and repairs. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated, please post links if you can.

Thank you,
Richard

Richard,

There are any number of good databse programs. JFile is fine for relatively simple databases. I use HanDbase because I need relational databases. You can find it at www.handbase.com. There are also hundreds of premade databases available. If your needs are very simple, the freeware HandyShopper is actually quite a good database. Don't let the name fool you-it can handle almost any kind of list type database. It also has a free Windows companion desktop. You can find it at www.freewarepalm.com.

DB available for free (GNU) at sourceforge.net works v.well for simple flat file databases - movies seen, books read, music heard, that sort of stuff.

I enjoy MobileDB it does everything that I need it to do, as well as sync with my desktop computer.

I am currently trying out the new version of SmartList To Go. I have the older version, which is version 2 and can not imagine having a Clie without it. You can download a 30 trial version from the dataviz website. They are also the makers of Documents To Go among other things.

I'll put in another plug for Smart List To Go. Version 3 supports the extended screen (though not landscape as far as I know); it's very easy to set up a database.

BTW, you can get a 30-day trial here (http://www.dataviz.com/products/smartlisttogo/index.html).

I use smartlist for the exact thing RSelby is talking about. Keeping parts list info and repair info for the different pieces of equip at work.

Of course it also tracks my library and future book purchases, and ....... to many to list.

I use PilotDB (pilot-db.sourceforge.net).

It's not as buggy as it used to be thank god, but it still has a few. On the bright side it's free and it works pretty good most of the time (Just make regular backups :))

I've used JFile ever since my PalmIIIxe, and it is excellent (and now hires+ or in simple terms... full screen!)
I use it for my finances among other things. It has great sorting and filtering options.

SmartList is fantastic, been using it for years can be simple or complex as your needs change. Ability to sync with access is tremendous
