View Full Version : Lot's O' Trouble!
Okay, I have 2 severe issues that I need opinions on to see what to do:
1.) I can only squeeze 2:37:30 out of my CLIE (TJ37 of course) I used Battery TIME, the normal is about 3:15 minutes I believe.
2.) I was stupid and downloaded THe Go Go, opened it, found it was Japanese, pressed a few buttons, and deleted a file that I thought was THe Go Go and ended up needing to Hard Reset my CLIE. Now, whenever I get an error, I have to do a Hard Reset because I get an error on startup saying I have to reset which brings me into an endless loop. Did a couple of backups and hard resetted, works for like 10 minutes and while doing something, I get the restart error message again, which brings me into an endless loop.
Any suggestions, or is my TJ37 going back to Sony again?

What did tou delete? ROM or RAM? If ROM: If you know the name maybe I can use FileZ and email it to you
Your battery life may be bad because the BakLight is on all the way, this happens to me.
Hope this helps

I had the hardreset problem before, and the way I got rid of it was a hard reset and then not using the backup files from the backup folder. I put all the programs on manualy or redownloaded them 1 at a time. So hard reset and dont use the backup because some of it is messed up. For the Battery I always have the backlight as Low as it gets.
I'm pretty sure I deleted a RAM file. ROM files can only be deleted if they are unlocked by FileZ and deleted after that.
The backlight was set to 50% during the test. I took out all the seperate backup files that weren't the 3rd party programs that installed. Maybe I should retry downloading it all... A long process, but if thats the only solution...
I'm in the process of draining down the battery to 0% I hope that fully Hard Resets the CLIE. Will this help my battery as well?

Seems like a Hard Reset should do the trick.
Anyway, silly question, but did you try installing the patches form Sony after the Hard reset. maybe that will fix it.
Then I would call Sony Support, and just describe the problem, they most likely will be able to get you going.
Good Luck,
Joe

And this is bad because.... ?
This is about how long I can work on my TJ-35 as well. Depending on what exactly you do during that time (what power-intensive apps you use), this may or may not be a bad result.

Actually, that will hurt your battery. You should never drain the battery that low, it might riun it

after you do a hard reset on the clie, and before you hotsync.....
go to your C drive > program files > Sony Handheld ... now in that folder, find a folder with your hotsync name...open that folder... in that folder there will be a folder named "backup" rename that folder to "old backup" .. . now do a hot sync... load your apps after ...one by one....as far as restoring your data (ie address, dates, etc) they will still be in the old backup folder....just click on the pdb and they will be restored
btw....by hotsyncing, the clie will create a new "backup" folder.
whatever was messed up in your original backup folder is still there, thats why you had to rename it so the clie would not access it and thereby put the foul files back on the device. once you retrieve your data file you can delete the "old backup" folder...
hope this helps!

I was just running Battery TIME after a clean Hard Reset.
Thanks NJL!2016, I had my power down to about 4% before I read it, it's charging now.
ClieLuvr, thing is, I used the MS Backup and cleared all the stuff out except the 3rd party programs. So all the system files and a68k files were deleted before I restored.
