Hi all!

I'm having an issue with my 50 locking up. It will lock up when I have all of my apps loaded and when I've done a hard reset (all apps deleted). It will be doing fine then all of a sudden it locks up. Sometimes when it goes into standby mode and I try to turn it on nothing happens, it's like locked up while being off. I hit the reset button and the screen shows some really weird lines and flashing. Would anyone know if reloading the OS would help? If not does anyone have any other ideas? I love my TG-50 and I want to keep it but this is killing me!

Thanks for any suggestions!

I doubt reloading the OS will do anything, in any case you can't do that anyway.

Here's the best thing to do, it should really solve your problem-

1. Find your backup folder on your PC, and move the entire contents to a new folder. Don't just delete it, or else you won't be able to recover data and apps.

2. Hard reset your CLIE.

3. Manually re-install your apps 1 by 1. In all likelihood there is a corrupt file or bad app that is causing the problems, hopefully you can catch it. Or just don't re-install non-important apps for now, to see if stability is okay.

Well I figured out my problem. I had a short. Something was touching the back of the case, which is metal. I had tried reinstalling apps one by one but I was getting lock-ups even when I had no additional apps installed, just the OS.

OK here's what I did to fix it. Somone at another forum said it's probably a hardware issue and suggested that I take it apart and check for any loose cable connections. So I took the back off, checked all my visible connections and nothing appeared to be dissconnected. I decided to turn it on with the back off (making sure I don't touch any circuitry) just to see how it would run and it was running like a champ. No lock-ups, nothing. Usually a lockup would occur within 5 mins so I ran it for over 30 mins just clicking on stuff. I decided to restore my backup apps and run it and no lock-ups after I did that either. So since I was up here at work with limited materials I lined the inside of the back with scotch tape. I put the backing back on and it is working great again.

It's been a day later and still no lockups. I've got it on the cradle charging with it turned on and it's still running great.

I think I dodged a bullet there!
