i know i'm just nit-picking, but for some reason my tg50 shuts down while in the cradle - regardless of the option 'stay on in cradle' active. any clues?

Try a soft reset. For some reason, the OS seems to forget the stay on in cradle setting. A soft reset usually fixes it.
