Help! Can't delete read only prcs on MS!

How can I delete PRCs that are marked "read only" on the memory stick ?

The way Ive done it is to grap the program called FileZ and install it...

With it, navigate to the read only prc on your MS... pull up the properties for it... and uncheck "read only"


you can also use MS import.. and do the same thing via the Windows Explorer... Navigate to the file, and either delete it, or right click on it and uncheck "Read Only"


Not sure how one would do this if they use a Mac.

GSC3D -- FileZ won't let me uncheck the read-only attribute box... in fact, I can't check or uncheck any boxes !!

David -- I've tried CLIE Files, but it said the file is read only.

What kind of files are these you are trying to delete? These may be in ROM, and thus can not be deleted conventionally.

It was ClieMail.
I copied it across from the CD using MS Import from home last night. But here at work, I can only WiFi hotsync, but now no USB access

Hmmmm...I don't have an NX and I don't use my Mail app. Did you check in Options/HotSync Prefs on ClieMail to see if the settings can be changed to something like local.

FileZ won't let me change the attributes of ANY files in MS.

UI018397 - it's easy. I'm assuming you're using Windows. Run MS Import on your CLIE such that your MS shows up in Windows as another drive.

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to that drive. Right-click on the file you want to delete and click Properties. Uncheck the read-only attribute. Delete the file in Windows Explorer !

I ran into the same issue with another read-only file I have transferred onto my MS and the procedure above was successful in allowing me to delete it.
