Well, I got help for my hotsync problem from Madmax, though I think in the end the SMS problem I had between my TG50 and the v600 phone is an unfixable problem with the v600.
So great.
So know I'm trying to use SMBmate to connect to my XP laptop.
The laptop is connected to a wireless router which is connected to my DSL. I have my Bluetooth dongle in and active. I can connect to my Laptop thru bluetooth using my TG50, however when I go into SMBmate and try to view my shares it won't let me. It initializes, connects and says Loading Files List, but then it just pops up a window saying failed load time out.
Im not sure what I'm doing wrong. I used the whizoo guide everyone says to read and problem is I cannot get my machine set up like his. My bluetooh network tabs on the laptop dont show ICS enabling, but my Wireless LAN card does. When I go to enable it, it warns me it is changing my IP... what I am doing wrong?
Plus, I cant make head or tells if I'm supposed to enter the IP address of the bluetooth network or the IP of my wireless card into SMBmate.
SOmeone please help!

SMBMate doesn't require ICS, as it only use SMBserver in Windows for file sharing.
As you are using BT connection, it is little different w/ others who use Wifi. You need to connect w/ your PC using BT first before using SMBMate. You can refer to following link for some instructions:

Jackho,
Thanks man, I read the post you recommended but unfortunately it didn't help. I've gotten my laptop and and my clie to see each other and I can actually use the network setting on the clie to connect to the vaio. But once I'm connected, I cant get SMBmate to do anything... I suspect I don't have the right ip addresses somewhere either in the clie or the laptop.. could you help there? I hate asking such a newb question but I'm all out of ideas.
ps. i'm not interested in connecting to the internet thru the laptop from my clie, i jsut want to be able to pull files off using SMBmate to my clie from the shares on the laptop.

I haven't BT on my PC, so I just can suggest you some ideas...
First, did you configure IP in BT connection on CLIE? BT connection I mean is Windows RAS in Network preference.
BTW, pls try to list your configuration of BT connection in both PC and CLIE. Then let's try to have a look on that... Maybe others can help you also.
I asked about internet over BT (w/ PC, using ICS) is because if you can use BT for internet, then SMBMate should work w/o problems...

Yet, if I go into network places, I can see my shares fine.
Im so confused. so so so.... confused.
I don't care about surfing the net on my clie.. if it works, cool.. i only want to hotsync and share files with smbmate
and hotsync currently works ... smbmate doesn't.
come to think of it looking at this setup, ive never gone under the My Bluetooth/Bluetooth network properties and manually configured the connection sharing... do i need to do that?
thanks guys..

speaking of which.. madmaxm, pm or email or msg me .. i need your addy for that dvd i mentioned before. got it ready. thanks man. you too jackho...
