School wifi

After buying my UX50 i wanted to be able to use it with my schools network, the entire school has wireless, and i wanted to take advantage of that, by being able to use it for projects and stuff, but normally my clie will automatically detect the network settings, and connect, but in this case it wont, probably because the school has some sort of lock or encryption or sumthing, does anyone know of a way to get around this or a program that would make me be able to connect? if so it would be greatly appriciated thanks.

same with my school, its called a WEP key and the school isnt likely to give it to you, due to viruses and shite.

You may wanna try MergicVPN, available from www.mergic.com I had similar problems logging onto my School WiFi network. But now it is cool! :) MergicVPN is simply great!

Benz: if you can see the network but can't log in because it's secure, then you'd need the WEP key to get on the 'net. If your Clie doesn't detect the network (i.e. it just keeps "scanning....") then it's simply a matter of range. Get close to the AP and see what you can get.

AFAIK unless Mergic somehow cracks WEP, it won't work unless the network is already open. The point of Mergic is to allow users to access private networks from public access points securely.

Mergic has nothing to do with WEP encryption, and can't get around it.

Also, you need a VPN server to log in to, to use VPN software.

Ok first off I tried asking the administrators, but because school is gay they wouldnt give it to me even thougt they know i wouldnt do n e thing bad, they just cant make exeptions, and they would think people would be looking at porn and stuff....................heh

But um its not a range problem, my entire school is liteally completely covered in airports, there is one like every 20 feet, and they go for like a 150 radious, and when i scan it detects the network, and give me singnal strangth, and all that stuff, its just when i hit connect, it says "connecting" then "retying" then "connecting" over and over.

My school also has carts of brand new laptops, that you can rent out to type a project or sumthing, so while i was typing a project one day i opened up the connection thing, and i was able to get the WEP, and i tryed putting it in but i basically got lost there, so getting the WEP wont be a problem, but i dont really know what to do, when i tryed putting it in to the new connection i made, it didnt work.

And i'll try i will try that program and see how it works

No, they just don't want some kid thinking he's downloading a Counter-Strike KeyGen, when it's actually the Netsky worm, and have it infect all the networked computers. Or have a bunch of vans in the parking lot, filled with laptops and people leeching their bandwith
