First I would like to thank anybody that posts on these forums regularly. The UX50 is my first PDA and I was worried before buying that the learning curve might be too steep to really enjoy the device. My fears were unfounded as I found these pages to be a wealth of useful information.

My question is concerning third party launchers. I have ZLauncher and like it quite a bit, it is paid for so I will continue to use it. However, I wouldn't mind trying out other launcher programs such as Appshelf or Facer to see if I might like them better. Is there any kind of compatibility problems with having multiple launchers installed? And if not, should these programs always be in RAM due to there system-like operations? Thanks to anybody that replies.

By the way, if this question has allready been answered in another thread I apologize, I searched for a while and couldn't find one myself.

There shouldn't be any issue with having several launchers on your UX. I have had ZLauncher, Appshelf, Facer and Silverscreen on many handhelds at the same time and it never caused a problem. You should just make sure that, in the preferences of each launcher, you only have one that is the "default" launcher.
Anyway, I would most certainly keep them in RAM...they will run quicker and some apps just don't play nice installed on a memory stick.
That is my experience, anyhow.

Harry,

I ran Zlauncher and Appshelf on my UX50. I have deleted the Zlauncher in favor of Appshelf now. I like the ease of use for the Appshelf and LOVE the today screen.....just my opinion...you can however run both if you wish.

Regards,

:)

I agree with you on Appshelf. I've grown attached to it. I deleted all the other launchers I had on my TH55 in favor of it. Now, it's going to reside as the solely-used launcher on my UX50.

Zlauncher is more powerful than most launchers. Once you tweak it to your needs, it can do anything. I'd say keep Zlauncher and try others, and choose one that you like.

Without going into a whole slew of how launcher works:

basically, no, there are no major conflicts.

Launchers should always be installed to RAM, if anything because of the frequency they are used.
