My first post here. G'day from Australia!

I am new to PDAs, but just bought Sony CLIE UX50 mainly because I need a very powerful yet mobile (I travel a lot and need a handy solution) personal finance management software in hands. I need it for:

- Personal/home expenses tracking
- My small development company finance management (expenses, commissions, income, salaries, advertising budget, etc.)
- Personal income tracking (company profits, adsense, etc.)
- Portfolio management (for personal trading)
- Credit/debit cards, savings accounts, paypal account, 2checkout account, term-deposits management
- Mortgage and car loan management
- Taxes management for all of the above (in at least three coutries/taxation systems)
- multiple currencies support (at least 5 different currencies)

Along with that short list I really need something to keep track of all that numerious site passwords, login names, PINs, IDs, card numbers, etc., with maximum security.

Please share your opinion on what could be the best solution for abovementioned needs, or maybe something that can be customized for that?

I am looking at three applications now (please share if you used any of them and how good it was for you, or maybe suggest others):

1.SplashMoney + SplashID (or maybe SplashWallet Suite)
2.PocketMoney® 3.1.2 for Palm OS
3.Mobile Money 2004 + Quick ID (by Mobile Systems)

Of course it would be very nice if the software would make use of Clie's Hi-res and wide screen.

I use SplashID and find it quite helpful with an intuitive interface. It is easily secure enough for my needs, but I have not researched the Blowfish security algorithm in comparison to others currently on the market.

My financial picture is not as complicated as yours, however, I wonder if you've considered the Quicken family of products. They can be found here. (http://www.quicken.com/quickensw/)

Intuit, the software developer, has everything from a very sophisticated Palm OS app (called Pocket Quicken) that syncs with desktop Quicken, to business, portfolio and tax applications. I use the personal finance and tax software, in addition to Pocket Quicken on my Clie. I find it indispensable, as I reside in two locations and use the Clie, the ability to download banking transactions, and Quicken on the desktop to keep everything synced. At tax time, TurboTax does a fine job as well.

I've used it with European currencies and USD, however, I cannot attest to program capabilities or limitations. I merely offer it as a suggestion, as it seems that the functionality you desire may well necessarily include both PC-based and Palm applications.

Thank you for reply RunningWoman, very appriciated.

Yes, I am running Quicken (Aussie edition) on my desktop, but Pocket Quicken seems to be more US-oriented, and it doesn't support Hi-res and wide screen as far as I understand. It is also shame that they don't provide a trial version. For now I am playing eith SplashMoney + SplashID and I like their looks, but functionality of SplashMoney seems to be pretty limited. I will keep posting about my developments here over time.

You might get more responses if you post in the Clie Apps forum.

PQ is more US'ish, but I believe that there is a UK version.  No PQ doesn't support Hires+, but I believe that there will probably be a new version released when OS6 becomes available, and I would bet 320x480 is a new feature.  LandWare will be shooting their foot if they don't release a new version with new features when OS6 is out.

If you use Microsoft Money then Ultrasoft Money for palm works great at least for me. My financial picture is not as complicated as yours either but check it out it might work for you.

I use Splash ID and find it indespensible. I also have Splash Money, whidh I really don't use, but it is supposed to support Quicken on the desktop and it is hires+ and if not available in landscape yet, probably soon will be. The SplashWallet Suite is the way to go, even if you only need two of the included apps. SplashPhoto is also excellent and includes a very useful desktop component.

For loan management, I use a great little app called Payoff Plus (not hires+, but great little app anyway).

For portfolio management, I use Stock Manager, also a great app and also not hires+. It does support automatic portfolio updates from most foreign markets as well as the US.

Thank you a lot. Splash money does support wide screen, at least partially, and I am getting used to the way it works, but looks like I would need some extra apps to make the bunch complete. SplashID is 100% great BTW.

As to so far I don't feel like trying PQ without a trial version, but let's wait till they release a HiRes/WideScreen version.

Exchanging data with Quicken and Splashmoney is somewhat tricky, but seems possible.
