Help with Fish Tycoon

Been playing for 2 weeks, I have bought all the research, all the fish egg types, used the unknown chemical (mutation chemical) 4 times, yet still only have found 2 of the Mystery Fish.

I have the following Mystery fish:

Canary Fire-Arrow fish (The Golden Guppy of Isola)

Wasp Grouper fish (Magic Fish of Mutation)


I have found 98 species & have been breeding them, but can't get anymore magic fish.

Any suggestions, this is getting boring.

I think it does. I haven't read that anywhere officially, just something I've noticed. I kind of like the feature because it's harder to accidentally sell something (when my tanks get crowded I put the babies in there to wait for them to grow up). However, it can be boring waiting on the selling screen.

In other news, I used the unknown chemical, and now I have three magic fish!

I got the magic fish of fertility, and all I did was purchase a new batch of eggs from the supply store. It was among the newborns.

I also had the magic plant from isola in the tank, so I don' t know if that had anything to do with it.

When I first started out, I created some fish whose name I can't remember (they're blue with orange fins) which I was able to sell for about $25 at first, which was a lot at the time. So I just kept breeding them with each other to save up money. After I progressed through the environment levels and got the magic plants I started cross-breeding more. My most expensive non-magic fish right now is the oriental carp (orange-and-white with purple fins) which I have priced at $70. I was very lucky to get multiples of my last two magic fish, so I can keep breeding them. I have one type (the golden guppy of Isola) selling for $400.

I haven't kept good track of which combinations led to which fish, I just picked whatever fish was the most valuable of the ones I currently had and kept breeding it.

Yes. Any fish can be hatched from a random egg, even all of the Magic Fish.

But, there are over 400 fish in the game, so finding one in a random scoop of eggs is sort of rare. Well, except for that Fish of Fertility. That one is made up of common fish parts, so it is quite possible to get one from a scoop of common eggs.

There are three ways to find a Magic Fish. The first is to find one in a batch of random eggs. The second way is to find one randomly by mutating existing fish. The third way is the expected way. You keep a log of what fish will be created when you breed two other fish together. After a while, you can figure out what you need to breed together to get the fish you want.

I never got a chance to breed it, & I don't know who the parents are.

Not at all. Each Magic Fish is completely independant of every other fish in the game. Keep in mind that, for most Magic Fish (and all fish), there are many different ways to breed that fish.

If Magic Fish #4, for example, is a Trout with Blue fins (a made-up name), then you can breed a Flounder with Striped fins with an Octopus with Olive fins to get one. Or, you can breed a Flounder with Olive fins with an Octopus with Striped fins. And there are probably 10 other combinations of fish that will get you a Trout with Blue fins. No matter how you created that Blue-finned Trout, it will be Magic Fish #4.

And don't worry too much if you sold off or killed a Magic Fish. All you need to worry about is whether that fish shows up on your trophy wall.

By the way, if you don't want to accidently sell off a fish (Magic or not), simply raise the price of it by $1,000. No one will buy it.

Surprisingly, Magic Fish #1, which is a common fish, is both the easiest and hardest fish to get. I'll leave you with that little riddle for a while.

I had read in another forum that it was not possible to overfeed the fish. Since my fish were dying anyway, I started a new game and since I had nothing to lose I fed all the fish a lot, altho' not at the same time. The result was they all died. My only conclusion is that you CAN overfeed the fish since it was way too early in the game for any other problem (age, illness, etc.).

Now if someone could tell me what that weird sound is...?!?

No. You cannot overfeed the fish. Never.

You're fish are dying because your tank environment hasn't been improved enough. If you are playing the demo, only the common fish (like you started with) can live indefinitely.

Uncommon fish, such as you get when you breed the starter fish, will live to adulthood and then about twice that length after that. That's just long enough to sell them off. If you don't, they will die after about 6-12 hours. You're best off to sell them before they die and use the cash to improve your tank.

If you try to breed the uncommon fish together, the offspring will be rare fish and they will die within the hour.

To fix the problem, you have to improve the tank enviroment. Since you only have the demo, you are very limited in what improvements you can make.

If you breed your fish at random, you'll quickly be making fish that are too rare to survive in your tank.

thanks for the info! I managed to breed a spined goldbulb which I can sell for $33. I'm even lucky enough to have 2 sets of parents in my tank which create this goldbulb so I'm able to get 4 births each time. Just saving up for the extra tank now and the aquatic plant so I can start experimenting a bit. I'll be looking out for that oriental carp too. Sounds good!

Maybe you can't overfeed ADULT fish, that's possible but my personal experience is that you can overfeed babies.

piece of info for the newbies to Fish Tycoon: I noticed today that it isn't just the one parent that can become pregnant but both parents can become pregnant at the same time. After saving up for the plant of fertility, I can now get not just 2 live births but four!

The fish environment affects the baby survival rate, not the adults. No matter what you do, they (other than the basic $160 eggs) will die until the fish environment is upgraded to at least it says "You Have Level 1".

All my nicer babies were dying, until I did this.

Breed a "goldbulb". They sell for $30-45, just keep doing it until you have enough money to upgrade the environment. Use the sell tank as a 2nd tank, & stick all the babies in there to grow up.

It's so hard since in my next (current) game, one of my fish developed the white speckled disease right after it became an adult. I had to spend money to "cure" it. Then some babies were born but too "frail" to survive - at least it warned me.

But I'll take your word for it that you can't overfeed. I guess I've just had dreadful luck. I'm not sure why the makers of this game would want to make it so hard for newbies.

Hmm. That's a new one. I helped beta test this game and I never heard of anyone being able to overfeed their fish (a couple of people tried). Perhaps this was an addition for thr final release.

I'll have to test this out when I get my PDA back (it's being repaired).

Not really. Being a simulation game, half the fun is figuring out on your own what works and what doesn't. The best documentation I've seen is simply to ask questions on these Internet boards.

Also: I have heard mention of a "Quicksilver" fish but despite hundreds of hours of playing time and finding six of the seven Magic Fish, and breeding from all types of eggs, I have never, ever found a Quicksilver. I have found twenty other species of fish.

If you Breed Spined Spontanus with Twin fin Spontanus, you´ll get the Magic Fish of Fertility (Greenfin Spontanus), make a lot of these to earn some money, I sold them for $95, then you can imporove your Tank.

Hi everyone!

This isn't really a game cheat per say, but for those of you that are impatient in playing Fish Tycoon, this might help with that. I discovered it by accident, but now I'm going to do this when I have some time to devote to the game.

Since it plays in real time, the clock on your Palm is the best way to adjust your game. You can seed your tank and then change the time settings on the Palm for roughly 2 hours ahead of normal time and then go back to your game. You'll see that all your fish are grown and ready for breeding. Adjust your time again after you've sold your grown fish and you'll see the babies are grown now. Pretty neat huh?

Only do this if you have some time to devote to your game and don't mind messing around with the clock settings. I'd hate for somebody to miss a scheduled meeting or something cuz of a "clock cheat"..lol. But then, does anybody use their PP for anything other than games?? Hehehe.

Anyway, I've found that doing this little trick lets me devote more time to finding the different breeds and less time waiting for fish to grow. At least this tip might be helpful in the beginning mode until the money rolls in enough to grow fish with the growth hormone.

The clock switch thingy also works in Plant Tycoon.

Hi, I'm relatively new to Fish Tycoon, and I'm having some problems. I can never seem to get enough money in order to research environments. I hatch the eggs and then breed fish as normal. Then I proceed to breed the new ones, and then I sell some of the old ones to try to raise money,but of course they're not worth very much. The thing is, is that they newer hatchlings always die before I have a chance to raise money to research. I always find the Fish Of Fertility, but I have to end up selling it to make money.
What am I doing wrong? I saw that another poster had $6000, how the heck do I get that much money when my fish keep dying?
By the way, I am playing on my computer and not a Palm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That all depends on what difficulty you're playing on, how many tank add-ons you have, and how many levels of research you've completed. But if you're assuming that we've all maxed out everything, well then I guess that it still depends on which level we're playing on.

I have only been playing around a week or so and I am having a very hard time finding 2 magic fish #5 and #7 I went off what the guy above said to breed the Canary FatFish and the Golden Snooper to get the #5 canary fire arrow fish and well IT DIDNT WORK!!!! I spent all that time breeding fish and buying eggs just to get those 2 fish and all they breed is the orange fatfish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't waste your time! Sorry dude dont know where you got that combo from! But sale the fish I said for that price and you will be bankin over 10Grand like me :D Hope this helps some of you... and if ANYONE knows how to get those fish even just one of them PLEASE let me know I am going crazy trying to figure out which ones it is and not getting anything! I used Golden Arrowfish and Canary Fruitfish to get the Orange Snooper...and the Pink Fatfish and a Crimson Goldbulb to get the Canary Fire Arrow...how did you get the Wasp Grouper...I can not find that one...

Oh yeah, I also used the Crimson Carp & the Crimson Fruitfish to get the #3 magic fish, Crimson Comet. That pairing wasn't on the previous list, either, but it works. Pink Beta just showed up out of eggs, Twinkie157, I think the middle ones. Still can't find Pink Fatfish or Crimson Goldbulb, but am going to try some cheap eggs, again, to try for the Pink Fatfish. Hooray for jaltaffer! Wanna give us any hints?

The best solution to the problem that I can come up with is to open Microsoft Word, then when you are in fish tycoon and you put a fish in the isolation tank, press species to get to the gene chart, when you are in the gene chart, on your keyboard hold (ALT & Print Screen) then, go to Microsoft Word and press (CTRL & V) to paste the image onto the paper, then hit (Return, Return) to prepare the page for the next gene chart. DONT FORGET TO SAVE AFTER EVERY USE! Hope this helps u out :)

Sandygrlsandy, to restart the game go to the purple menu button at the bottom left corner. Then on the menu screen on the bottom right corner you should see (although it is slightly hidden) your player name, in yellow, and then the option to change player in white. Click on change player and you will be able to restart the game.

These are not common fish that you have bred. Common fish are only from one bloodline. IE: Twin-Fin Beta + Twin-Fin Beta = Twin-Fin Beta.
Hint: Don't breed hybreds until after you upgrade your Fish Enviroment Research. Just breed your common and sell the babies to make money. Try different combos to see if you can breed a good price fish. (Both parents can get pregnant.) Hope this helps and have fun playing :)

There are quite a lot of combinations that will get you a fire arrow, and a few combinations that will get you a canary fin, so I do think that this one clue just gives the player two further problems - how to find a catfish with the right fin and how to find a snooper with the right fin. How to find a catfish full stop.

I think maybe this thread just needs to give the names of the fish at most. Anything else isn't perhaps as helpful as it at first seems.

Been playing for 2 weeks, I have bought all the research, all the fish egg types, used the unknown chemical (mutation chemical) 4 times, yet still only have found 2 of the Mystery Fish.

I have the following Mystery fish:

Canary Fire-Arrow fish (The Golden Guppy of Isola)

Wasp Grouper fish (Magic Fish of Mutation)


I have found 98 species & have been breeding them, but can't get anymore magic fish.

Any suggestions, this is getting boring.

I have a question. I accidently made (& then accidently sold), a magic fish - The Magic Fish of Health - so I don't have it anymore (other than in the Trophy Case).

I never got a chance to breed it, & I don't know who the parents are.

Do I need this fish in order to get: #1, and #2 Magic Fish (the last 2 I have to find).

Magic Fish #1 is the greenfinned Spotanus. I got that from a batch of eggs.
Fish #2 is the speckled leaffish. I got that from breeding fish sorry but I don't remember which ones but if you kept track of what combination makes what you should be able to get it pretty quickly.

mack_a_lacken, when you cross breed the fishes, you're producing hybrids which will need a better environment and fish food to survive. That is why you fries are getting sick and die off with no apparent reasons.

People won't buy your fishes? May be because you price it too high. You need to play around with the prices a bit. I haven't played this game for a while now, so can't remember any good tip or combo.

You can email potatodude @ post #96 or check out watbull's link at post #94 above for combos and tips. It's a long game and a lot of hard work. Best of luck to you. ;)

Naw, those aren't dumb questions. You're new to the game and haven't gotten a feel for how things work yet. So your situation is completely understandable.

Now, as far as starting out and to get that feel that I mentioned, you might want to set the game speed to slow and the difficulty to easy under the preferences menu. However, without researching any higher levels of Environment, you will only be able to breed the most basic types, which you won't really know until the babies are born and if they die, then you're not ready for them yet, but if they live...well, there ya go.
TIP: If you feel up to it, you will be able to breed fish that would normally survive after the first level of Environment Research, though they will still slowly loose health. If you are able to create two of these fish that are the same species, my experience has told me that after breeding a few generations with these, they seem to become hardier and loose health at a slower rate.
My strategy with this is to find the Golden Goldbulb (I think that's what it's called) and sell it somewhere around $15-20 until I can get enough money to research the next level.

To get people to buy your fish at the start of the game, you're going to have to drag the fish that you want to sell into the tank tab labelled "Tank $" at the top of the screen. Also, make sure that your prices are low enough for the people to want to buy them. To change the price of a fish species, drop the fish into the isolation tank and tap the "Species" button.
TIP: the more fish that you have in your selling tank, the more 'attractive' your shop is to potential customers.

Finally, as for specific combos, I have no idea. As it looks, there's a few tools linked in the above posts, and I remember a few different interactive databases that could easily tell you over at the ldw.com forums. If you really want to take that path, I'd try looking at one of those.

Try jumping forward in time by adjusting your computers date/time. On 2x speed, with pregnant fish, shut game down and jump 2hrs forward on your computer clock to get instant new adult fish. Also very handy for that lengthy research.
WARNING: Can't undo time skip by reset of clock so be careful. Also don't time jump too far with unstable or hungry fish. They can die and cause disease.

Time Skip Guide:
(Note: This is for 2x mode only, double values if using normal speed)

To get instant baby fish from pregancy skip approx 15-17mins
To age baby fish to adult fish skip approx 1hr 40min (100mins)
General rule of thumb is 5min for every fish year.

P.S. Not sure if people have posted this before but I see a lot of people are putting enormous amounts of time into this game. I've just bought it and was already annoyed with the "real-time" crap. This is not cheating, there is no skill in waiting on a computer game.

I got help from your spoilers so thought i would help others

I used the speed up time and bred the expensive fish to start with the $90 oriental grouper and then moved up bit by bit

There is a very easy way to complete the game and im not sure if its to do with what was in the tank so i will include that too just in case it doesnt work for your tank

I had 21 random fish in tank 1 mostly made up of various fish which were used from the rarer more expensive eggs with all the plants on the bottom of the tank with the seahorse in there heater and water pump , in there i also had the shell and the sort of pillar monument ornament.

I continued to keep breeding the expensive fish in tanks 2 and sale tank to make a lot of money and then just used the chemical that so called fell off the back of a lorry to keep mutating the 21 fish in my main tank 1. As soon as i found a magic fish i moved them to tanks 2 or 3 then bred one of the fish in tank 1 to make it up to 21 again. This took me about 40 or 50 attempts on my pc and about the same on my wifes laptop so i know it works.

Hope this helps as i can post screen shots to prove it works as i have all 7 magic fish in my tank 2 now on their own and have finished the game although it lets you continue to play when you have found all of the magic fish. Just proves not to waste your time to keep looking through the breeding lines to find all the magic fish

I have been playing for a while now and have been reading some of the posts. One thing that I have noticed is that everyone says to upgrade the environment and this will stop, but if you over feed your fish you can have absolutly everything and they still end up dieing. This is what happend to me. I have everything upgraded and installed and they were still getting to sick to even make it to 20 to sell, but i pretty much stopped feeding them and now i have fish that are over 300 and in perfect health, so watch how much you feed them too! :)

I got the magic fish of fertility pretty easily. In my first batch of eggs I received two, and from those I just kept breeding in order to buy the next level of environment research. I breed all my greenfin spotanuses in my sell tank, since that's what thier sole purpose is, to be sold, and I keep surviving hybrids in my other tank.

I'm fairly certain that with the hybrids I have I can create rarer fish; I've already tried and since they all reached pass the age of 6 I could easily tell they weren't of any species i had already previously had. I wasn't able to keep those babies alive though.

Does anyone know what level is the last level of environment research? I'm currently working on number 3.

btw to jag_tabby: i think there are like 441 species. or 422 or something of the sort. I read it somewhere but i forgot where =(
and also, it is a good idea to keep a log. that way you won't end up breeding the same fish twice and wasting time and space. also, it lets you see some relationship and breeding patterns that may help. I've been keeping my log in table format, with columns for spotanuses, bananafish, betas, leeffish, etc etc.

I've played fish tycoon for a couple months now and have one majic fish left to find. If you like a fast pace game you can forget this one! I think it is well set up if you read the help section first! The quickest way to play is to make fast money and buy everything including tank, research programs on all levels, plants, and everything else you can buy on the supply page! The best way to I've found to play is to keep high dollar fish and make alot of them to sell! Without money the game gets fustrating fast! I bought everything, I've tried everything except keeping track of the different fish, except one and thats the canary fire-arrow! I sell it for 260 bucks a fish. Now thats the way to make money!! So far I've made 152,436.00 dollars, sold 2124 fish, and have a hefty 57,361.00 dollars to spend right now! You can't really roll until you buy everything in the supply store! So the best tip I can give you is to find the best dollar fish you got and make bunches of them and sell bunches of them! Never drop below 120 bucks just in case all your fish dye you can buy some more eggs! If your tired of this game try Tornado Jockey its a great fast pace game if you like to feel the power of a real tornado!!!! I'm to old to be having this much fun! Guess I never grew up!!

What I've noticed in playing the game (at least on the 'easy' setting) is that there is actually a hierarchy of fins and bodies; the order I've listed them in is not random. The fins and bodies breed independently of each other, and these lists can be used to easily determine the outcome of any breeding. Here's what you do, by way of example:

What do you get when you breed an Oriental Snooper with a Tiger Pigmy?

For the fin, look at the Oriental and the Tiger in the list, and go halfway between them to get a Snubbed. Do the same thing with Snooper and Pigmy to get the body Comet. So Oriental Snooper + Tiger Pigmy = Snubbed Comet.

For the mathematically inclined, this is:
Oriental + Tiger = (12 + 20)/2 = 16 = Snubbed
Snooper + Pygmy = (16 + 4)/2 = 10 = Comet

When this method puts you halfway in-between two fish in the list, round the number up. i.e.
Snooper + Beta = (16 + 5)/2 = 10.5 --> 11 = Goldbulb



Consequences of this setup:

1. There are four fish which cannot be bred from different fish. These are the Twin-fin Spontanus, Silky Spontanus, Twin-fin Shark, and Silky Shark. In order to find all the fish in the game, you will need to get these four fish directly from eggs. Moreover, starting with these four fish it is possible to breed all other fish in the game. Luckily, the game considers these to be "common" fish, and they eventually will be born from the common eggs.

2. As far as breeding combinations go, the #1 rarest fish in the game is the Twin-fin Spontanus, as the only way to breed it is to breed two other Twin-fin Spontanuses. The Twin-fin shark and the Silky Spontanus are the second rarest fish, and the Silky Shark is the third. The most common fish is the Golden Goldbulb (meaning, this is the result of the most breeding combinations).

3. The Quicksilver, Catfish, Finless, and Tiger don't seem to arise from common eggs, so it is arguable that these require the most breeding to achieve (possibly among others).

4. After doing a little math, you can actually calculate how many ways there are to breed a certain fish. For example, the "Ultra-Rare" Canary Fire-Arrow arises from 14 combinations to get Fire-Arrow (not including combinations employing the Fire-Arrow itself--there are two of those), and 14 combinations to get the Canary part (again, not including the 2 combinations which use the Canary itself). So, there are 14*14 = 196 different ways to breed the Canary Fire-Arrow.....not very "Ultra-Rare" if you ask me.

5. The formula for calculating the above is this: if n is the number of the fish (i.e. for Fire-Arrow, n=14), then there are 2n-1 unique combinations for n less than 12, and 44-2n for 12 and up. For all but the Twin-fin and the Spontanus, this number includes two combinations which use the fish itself (for the Twin-fin and the Spontanus, there is only one way to breed, i.e. Twin-fin+Twin-fin=Twin-fin). Using these formulae, we see that there are 21*21= 441 different ways to breed the Golden Goldbulb, the most common fish (as far as breeding goes). There are 53,361 different breeding combinations in the game, so breeding random fish at random will give a Golden Goldbulb about 0.8% of the time.


I haven't played on any setting other than 'easy', so I have no idea if this all still holds.

If the list works as well as I think it does, yeah. I haven't tried every combination of fish, though...I just extrapolated from the patterns I was seeing, and I haven't yet seen anything not obey the list.

Also, I've found that the mutation drug seems to make either the body or the fin go up or down one item in the list.

OK, I have 5 of the 7 Magic Fish. Here are my Guarenteed to work combos.
1.Magic Fish of Curing = Golden Goldbulb+Spined Stickfish I sell for 210.
2.The Golden Guppy (Canary Fire Arrow) =Fanned Snout+Crimson Comet. $350.
3.Magic Fish of Growth= Golden Goldbulb+Orange Goldbulb- $225.
4. Speckled Leaffish=Spined Fruitfish+Greenfin Spontanus-$145.
5. Greenfin Spontanus--Have no clue how I got this one. but never sell it!!

Also, I write down all of the breedings to keep track of what I need to get the good fish. I have 22,000. and have already bought everything there is to buy. So now the game is boring..LOL. Just trying to find the other 2 Magic Fish.

I just bought this game after playing the demo for a few weeks and I'm totally addicted. I was wondering though, if there was some way to do the time cheat on a PC? I'm referring to the cheat where you set the clock ahead so the babies grow faster? I've tried resetting my clock and it hasn't worked, so I'm guessing this cheat doesn't work on PCs, but I have the little shred of hope that maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Hi, I just bought it today myself. I think that they number indicates days and not years. I discovered that a fish must be at least 20 days old before it can breed, so just be patient. Or, you can do what I did, and just set the game to Fast mode. ;)

i am done with the game and i did start over again .I just love it.
as i played my advise to you is to buy 2 sets of common eggs but not together, because if you do so you lose the first set,
buy one set and drop it in the tank then buy another set and drob it in the tank,you can keep maximum 20 fish in each tank so devide them on to tanks and wait until they grow.
the tip here is ( forward your pc clock 2 hours )wait for 2 minutes and then put it back as it ws.you will get all fish adults and then you can start breeding.
as soon as you earn 500 first thing to buy is the research inviroment as too many fish can not survive without it.
try to breed too much from the high price fish before you sell them to make good money to start buying other stuff.
you can also use the clock trick to get done with the research invroment fast because it takes ages to be ready to use.

Ok here is the trick,there is 2 magic fish they come alone you do not breed them.the speckledleaffish and the greenfin spotanus.

what you have to do is always try to use one fish to breed all and then sell them.
try to breed another fish with the resat of all.
try to get the extra tank as quick as you can it helps you to devide fish and put the new fish separatly so you do not lose the new kind that you breed, then try the new breed generation with the old ones and then with the new ones, and so on ...

(Not sure if different prices like that will work but that one does). I'm up to about 560 Billion dollars right now.

SPPS I have the same problem. I have researched food once and environment once and my advanced hybrids keep dying slowly - just like yours. I'm currently researching food level three and as soon as I get in enough $ I will start researching the environment. I also bought aeration system, temperature regulator, snail, nutrition plant, incubation plant and curing plant.
I keep watch on my new hybrids and I add vitamins from time to time, but it's quite costly. I will keep them until 20 so that I can see the species and see if I discovered any magic fish, but then i'll sell them and earn money for research.

Any better idea?

SPPS I have the same problem. I have researched food once and environment once and my advanced hybrids keep dying slowly - just like yours. I'm currently researching food level three and as soon as I get in enough $ I will start researching the environment. I also bought aeration system, temperature regulator, snail, nutrition plant, incubation plant and curing plant.
I keep watch on my new hybrids and I add vitamins from time to time, but it's quite costly. I will keep them until 20 so that I can see the species and see if I discovered any magic fish, but then i'll sell them and earn money for research.

Any better idea?
researching food and researching environment has 2 stages not 1 get both complete for each and then no fish will die.

yes there is a way. when you get back to the main menu screen, down the bottom on the right hand side it gives you an option to change players. simply delete your name and start again. enjoy

One thing that I found really useful was identifying what makes the fish - ie you need an "orange" something but you don't have orange - here are some I worked out:

To make:
Canary = Wasp + Orange
Canary (b) = Hornet + Spined
Golden = Orange + Spined
Orange = Spined + Pink
Pink = Silky + Orange
Spined = Crimson + Stubby
Stubby = Canary + TwinFin

If you have these you can get just about any fish you need.
I also have a great list of what you need to combine (incase you sold some fish like I did enroute): ie Firearrow + Arrowfish = Fatfish

Install Hex Workshop.

Go to your game install directory "C:\Program Files\Fish Tycoon\" and make a copy of "FishSaveGame1.pts" Copy it to your desktop. This is just in case you mess something up.

Open up Hex Workshop and browse to "FishSaveGame1.pts", open up the file.

Click EDIT, then click GOTO. In the Offset Box type in 000003A0. Make sure that HEX is selected & Beginning of File is selected. Click GO. Your cursor will then be blinking at the spot you need to edit. All you have to do is type in F6C9 9A3B. This will replace the current data that was once there. Now save the file, close Hex Workshop, and start your game. You should now have $999,999,990

Here's one way ( since there's more than one combination for each fish it seems)to breed Magical Fish: you can breed Spined Fruitfish with Greenfin Spotanus and get the magic Speckled Leaffish, Orange Fruitfish with this Speckled Leaffish to get Crimson Comet, Pink Fatfish with Crimson Comet for Canary Fire Arrow and Golden Goldbulb with Orange Goldbulb to get Oriental Goldbulb..still searching for more,,

you can always create a new game, fact if you dont like the basic fish you got just create a new one till you find the usefull basic fish, I got me two #1 magic fish in one of the game I create and that helps a lot to earn money to start with especially you have to spend a lot of vitamin potion till you finish your fish envoroment research and the best tip I can give you is just try to get the #2 magic fish and earn your money from there and worried about the #3 magic fish when you got your second lever fish envoronment research just dont sell your orange fruitfish as thats what you need and the speckeld leaffish to make the #3 magic fish, once you earn enough money to start your third level research and finish it, your baby fish even the cannary fire arrow will be healty.

Just grab the fish and drag it to the "Sale Tank" button.

As far as your fish disapearing, it sounds like maybe they are dying. You'll need to get some vitamins in your tank, along with plants, bubbles, heater, etc...

You'll obviously need alot of money to do that. My previous post shows how to hex edit the "FishSaveGame1.pts" File. Thats if your into cheating, if not then you'll have to breed the right species and sell, sell, sell.

Been playing for 2 weeks, I have bought all the research, all the fish egg types, used the unknown chemical (mutation chemical) 4 times, yet still only have found 2 of the Mystery Fish.

Also: I have heard mention of a "Quicksilver" fish but despite hundreds of hours of playing time and finding six of the seven Magic Fish, and breeding from all types of eggs, I have never, ever found a Quicksilver. I have found twenty other species of fish.

I have been playing for over 470 hours according to the game..the only cheat I have used is the one that makes time elapse quicker so I don't have to wait for my fish to grow up I have heard that there are 21 fin types and 21 body types according to this page http://www.cleverarts.com/fishtycoon/default.asp so far by only breeding the greenfin spotanus with the cheap eggs I have purchased I have found 18 body types and about 13 fin types I have found 2 other magic fish this way #2 and #3...also I got a #2 by buying the middle priced eggs. Although I have not killed my fish through over feeding I have noticed that if the fish do not need fed..and I give them more food their health goes down...just a little bit.

If you have ONE Quicksilver and want to breed others, you can cross it with a Spotanus to get another Quicksilver. Chickapow,
Your fish will continue to die until you have fully researched the environment. That's a priority in order to get your fish to live. Vitamins are a waste of your money. It's temporary and you need to get the research done or you will not be able to get the other fish to live. The easiest thing to do is take your first batch of fish and see if you have the parent fish to breed Goldbulbs. The Goldbulbs will live best in an unresearched environment tank but you do have to sell them quickly because their health will begin to get bad. Raise a tank full then sell the tank full but always take more breeders from the tank first to use to breed more. You can sell a Golden Goldbulb for $30 or more, and an Oriental Goldbulb (which is also a Magic Fish) for around $100 easily. This raises funds for your research quickly with less frustration over your fish dieing.

Don't keep any other fish except your Greenfin Spotanus or any other Spotanus you might get in the batch. Sell them off to make room for breeding only your fund raising fish at first. Also, if you have sick fish, don't treat them, but discard them instead. Treating them will take more money than they are worth. You need the money to do this environment research first. Don't research food or advertising yet either. Concentrate on environment only.

You begin with $300 dollars and a free batch of fish eggs. In that first batch you normally will receive a Greenfin Spotanus to start you off. Keep this fish, don't sell it. If you have other Spotanus Fish in that batch, keep them too.

Now, to get Goldbulbs to sell, you breed these fish. Most of these are fish you will not get in your first batch. Don't try to breed other fish to get them if they weren't in your first eggs because the offspring will most likely only die. But, look for these in the first batch...

Beta + Fatfish = Goldbulb
Fruitfish + Stickfish = Goldbulb
Shark + Spotanus = Goldbulb
These are most likely the ones you will get in the first batch and the goldbulbs from them will most likely live so you can raise your money.

BUT...other combinations to get Goldbulbs if you have them in your tank are these...
Arrowfish + Bananafish = Goldbulb
Arrowfish + Quicksliver = Goldbulb
Bananafish + Snout = Goldbulb
Beta + Snooper = Goldbulb
Carp + Goldshark = Goldbulb

I have completed the game over 50 times. I speed it up by advancing my computer clock then going back into the game, so that's a cheat, but it's not difficult to complete once you learn to do the research on environment first. I've created every known species in the game of every fin type in the game. Now, I can complete the game in only a few hours.

Oh yeah, I also used the Crimson Carp & the Crimson Fruitfish to get the #3 magic fish, Crimson Comet. That pairing wasn't on the previous list, either, but it works. Pink Beta just showed up out of eggs, Twinkie157, I think the middle ones. Still can't find Pink Fatfish or Crimson Goldbulb, but am going to try some cheap eggs, again, to try for the Pink Fatfish. Hooray for jaltaffer! Wanna give us any hints?

:) the only combo i have found for the Crimson Goldbulb is to use a Golden Goldbulb + Crimson Comet (or anything with the word Crimson in it). I have gotten many of these just from having had a Crimson comet at one time and kept breeding the GG with a Crimson Goldbulb!

i have found that you can overfeed your fish.
i started a new game and started with no help i used the growth hormone and started to feed my fish no stop. their health slowly decreased and they eventually died that was proof enough to me.

the easiest way 4 me to get magic fish #5, the orange snooper was to breed the orange fatfish with the orange goldshark. they r a bit easier to come by than some of the other fish to make the combos. -janice

For those of you looking for a crack for fish tycoon....

It's very difficult to get your hands on and very time consuming. You can't just pic it up from a website and also you can't use anyone elses username. The only way to get it is to crack into the actual game and you need to be pretty smart to be able to do that and know what your looking for. The easiest thing to do is...if you so desperately want it....is to buy the game...it doesnt cost that much and it saves you time and effort on something that you may not be able to find.

Ok...so first of all..it's pretty ridiculously easy to get a crack or patch for the game...*cough* hypothetically of course...I actually managed to find all of the magic fish after playing for just 3 days :D. I have now set my sights on getting all the species...but it's a pain in the *** to try and get all the quicksilvers...so far I have only managed to get one...very frustrated...! :mad:

Btw i have age 130 fish that's pregnant and it just wont give birth anyway to speed it up? cant fast foward time :)


why cant you forward the time its easy just run the game NOT in full screen mode and run your adjust time setting aslo make fish preggers and then forward the time by 30mins and hey presto there born you have to flick between tanks and when you return there ALIVE ! and then if u feed them and then forward the clock by 2hrs ish there fully grown within secs hahahahahah hope it helps !

I actually think it might have been posted earlier....but it's pretty easy to get a hold of the reflexive all games patcher and if you download fish tycoon from their website and just use the patcher you'd be all set. If you have been having difficulty findng the patch, I could give you mine... :)

Hiii I've been playing for 2 days and I got my Magic Fish of Curring - Crimson Comet by random mating!!

I got Twin-fin Spotanus, Sikly Fatfish & Spined Shark from my original Egg set.

Silky Fatfish + Spined Shark = Wasp Arrowfish
Silky Fatfish + Wasp Arrowfish = Fanned snout
Fanned snout + Twin-fin Spotanus = Crimson Comet!!!

Now I'm actively breeding Crimson COmet to sell them at $150 each. haha $$$ are flowing innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I got my 2nd Magic Fish!! Magic Fish of health!!

Spined shark + fanned snout = canary catfish
Fanned snout + ( didn't record down the species but i got the pic) = GOlden goldbulb
Golden goldbulb + Canary Catfish = Orange snooper!!

First of all why are you all going on about a crack or patch ? just download the full version of a p2p ! and its just taken me about 1 day to complete the whole game thats all of the magic fish brought everythink in the shop sold over a 1000 fish binned 500 ( waiting for tank upgrade ) hahaha and if you get lucky enough to get hold of a CANARY FIRE ARROW they sell for $250 happy days $$$$$$$$$ ! all thanks to the TIME CLOCK CHEAT ! its all great knowing how to get the magic fish the bit that takes its time is finding the breeds that make the magic fish hahaha good luck evry1 ! also you can use this cheat but dont exceed the 24hrs if you run out of hours just turn off the game reset your clock too 00:10am and start again hahaha ive got nearly and hundred grand in the bank spare if any1 needs some cash lol gd luck evry1 ! :) :D :eek: :)

Also: I have heard mention of a "Quicksilver" fish but despite hundreds of hours of playing time and finding six of the seven Magic Fish, and breeding from all types of eggs, I have never, ever found a Quicksilver. I have found twenty other species of fish.



the fish you want for the spined quicksilver are spined spotanus and the spined banana fish hope this helps

Okay, I downloaded the Hex workshop but I cannot find a 000003A0 for the life of me. Closest I have is a 000003AC and 000000A0...Is there anything else I can do to get this??

Download Hex Workshop 3.11

Install Hex Workshop.

Go to your game install directory "C:\Program Files\Fish Tycoon\" and make a copy of "FishSaveGame1.pts" Copy it to your desktop. This is just in case you mess something up.

Open up Hex Workshop and browse to "FishSaveGame1.pts", open up the file.

Arrow down to the 59th row. You'll see 000003A0 in the far left column.

Go to the next column, and replace the numbers with 983A, Do the same for the next column and leave the rest alone.

It should look like this:

000003A0 | 983A 983A 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000

Now save the file. It will ask if you want to make a backup, say yes.

And Voila you now have over $98,000,000
