I use Windows XP.
I just installed the MSexport program from my Clie cd. Never had problems with it until now.
I just select MSimport on the Clie and everything is fine... the Clie says "Connected to pc".
In the "my computer" window of my pc I have a new device BUT when I click on it the program locks on and I have to terminate it.
The same happens if I run MSexport on my pc...
Please help me or I will have to buy an external USB MS reader/writer....

have an sj30 and a 1.1 ghz pentium with 256 DDR running XP... every second or third time i hook my clie up and hit the MSIMPORT button my entire pc crashes... sometimes it works fine and i can transfer files to my ms without any problems... but often it crashes (reboots) my pc... if i have the clie connected and try MSEXPORT the pc just locks up it does not crash but everything in windows becomes insanely slow... i am not running any hacks on my clie... i have no other problems with my alternatives (i.e. hotsyncing or with ir transfer of mp3s, but they take too damn long)... what gives?... perhaps our problems are cuased by the same bug

Sorry, don't understand. Does it mean, that after Connection you do NOT have an extra Drive for Clie-Device?
Normally you should get it.

Help, When I engage MSimport on my T665C, I can use MSExport or Windows Explorer for only a few seconds before the PC Locks up. When I disengage the USB cable from the Clie, The PC recovers.
I am using Windows XP home with Service Pack1.
When I look in device manager, under drives, it says its a Sony Clie MGMS USB Device. Is this correct?
I did not install Sonicsound LE.
Anyone have an Idea?
I have reinstalled after cleaning all mgms/sony entries in the registry.

Try to install the PC Driver from your CD again.

I reinstalled the driver from the CD-rom. I can use MSImport(Clie)/ MSExport(pc) when I drag a file to the MSexport on the desktop. The file (MP3) for testing loads currectly to the Stick no problem. The issue now is when I open Windows Explorer, I can browse the Clie but when I try to any I/O, My session freezes until I unplug the USB connector from the Clie. Is this a Windows problem, Driver Problem or What. I am not over-clocking my T665c. I can use MSEport as I mentioned above but something is fishy with windows Explorer. Thanks

How can we generate interest in this post to receive an answer, I too am experiencing the exact situation. I own a T665. I am attempting to Import/Export MP3 files, and when I tap the MS Import on my clie I subsequently receive the 'Connected to Computer' message. The MS Import, and or, MS Export, for that matter times out or does 'not respond' on my Windows XP. I believe that XP is the common thread here. I checked my USB Drivers but they seem to be o.k., or are they? Software or hardware problem? Perhaps a Memory Stick Adapter would work?

I've run just about every Clie model on Win2000 and Win XP at work with no problems at all.
At home I have an N760C and an NR70V that I have run on Win98SE, Win2000 Pro and XP Pro without any problems either.
There isn't any problem between Sony and Windows. The problem is a hardware or software conflict with something else in the system (although considering how much crap I have installed in my main box I'm surprised it conflicts with anything).
I have also heard of a few cases where people had lock up problems if they connected or disconnected their Clie from the Cradle with the power on (the Clie power). This doesn't seem to be a problem with any of my systems, but it's possible some systems are sensitive to this.
There are also issues with the power saving features in Windows. Make sure you have the latest software updates and drivers for your system.

Do any of you have more than one operating system on your computer. I've heard that can cause so problems with seeing the extra drive

The only thing that I can think of that I have on my system that could cause a conflict is a Sony digital camera that also uses an usb port to upload pictures. I also have a cordless tablet for my mouse but this is not usb.
I personally don't have more than 1 os on the pc.

My Sony digital camera was not recognized by XP until I changed the usb setting on the camera to PTP from normal. Is there any setting like this on the Clie?

Try a serach on cliesource with XP problems. I know I read about some, but as yet I'm still with 98SE and Me so I really didn't check to closely

Try to use the other USB port.
It solved my problem (crashing while trying to hotsync).
It recognized my Cli'e as a new device, installed the drived automaticlly, and sync perfectlly.

Since I haven't that problem, many others, I can't really help. I've had as many portable usb drives for various things and still it sees my ms import.
