Not without losing sound you can't. And even then you'd need the 3ivx codec for quicktime.

you need 3ivx codec which is compatible with quicktime. ive learned that the loss of sound is due to the sound compression. so here are the steps i make using virtualdub to convert divx to kinoma without getting into uncompressed mpeg format.

1. open the file in vdub
2. select avi audio, full processing, compression -> uncompressed wav
3. save wav
4. select video compression 3ivx, full processing, no audio
5. save avi (this will be the longest part)
6. open the 3ivx video, select direct stream copy for video, select wav audio -> select the wav you saved in step 3, direct stream copy.
7. save avi
8. convert the avi to using kinoma.

ah so THATS how its done..i did something similiar but wound up with a big file that i had to split into two.

How large is the final output file throwitthere?..lets say for a 700MB Divx movie....would if be less than a gig so that kinoma wont choke?

btw i think kinoma sucks mostly because the video quality looks like ****...i converted a music video using both kinoma and image converter both around the same size and the image converted one looked 150% better. is there any other converters that support 3ivx?

not that I know of. and if you have a NX or NZ..just stick to that. most of the kinoma users I think are using systems a lil before then. Also I think kinoma can give incredibly good quality. jsut gotta finagle the framerates and the size of the original vids sometimes. But all in all i can get good 320*240 sized videos on mine at about 12-16MB each. I can certainly do less to pack a lot of videos but i like quality and size too..

Ok so i converted the divx movie, which plays fine on quicktime but is 2.2 gig. so what do i put in the advanced setting on kinoma so it will fit on the Nx...i dont think it will thanx

TRY these settings..then just play withit..

10 fps...
320*240
160 kbps

Clie audio at 33 mhz
no boost.

if that doesnt fit try making the sound Yamaha momo with medium boost at 8 mhz

mas,

kinoma surely wont choke because 3ivx is also a compressed format. if the video resolution is too large, you can use the resize filter at the same time during the recompression process so the file size would be a bit smaller.
fitting a 90 min divx into an ms is much harder and you would have to give up more quality in video and audio. i was able to do it at 320x240 10 or 8 fps video with mono sound.

actually its letting me save it now but it won't upon. It says cannot allocate memory because no size has been set. Thanks

there has to be another way to compress the video. my 700mb bumped up to 2.2gb thats dvd. i did get the video to work (at the smallest video) but no auido on clie mode, try the setting posted and it was to large to fit

That is so smart! Excellent work, this will save my sanity to some degree.

my file is around 900mb mpeg what settings on kinoma should use to get the best quality and will fit on my 128 ms. i would play around but it takes a hour to convert. thanx

a 750mb DivX movie - reduced to 200mb (also divx btw) with VD, then converted via standart nx prog - Image converter = 100Mb movie

COOL!

TealMovie Converter supports any VfW codec (including DivX), any WinAudioCodec (including DivX audio/WMA), frameserving (look at the VirtualDub page http://www.virtualdub.org for explanation) and works great for lower datarates, allthough quality is not on par with Kinoma on higher data rates (of course NX MPEG4 is best when it comes to that)
