really basic question, how do I get the fonts to hi-res? On the older version there was a font preference but in the beta there isn't a font preference. Any thoughts?

The competition has caught up - AvantGo is trash.

I am very disappointed. this new beta looks like it should have come out years ago. It doesn't support hires or hires+. what is that?

I'll stick to iSilo/iSiloX - this has totally replaced AvantGo on my NX.

A single user license for iSilo™ costs $17.50
......... if not stolen/cracked it's way to expensive for me though..... i'm sticking to avantgo and hoping it gets better very soon...... i installed three channels which are brilliant and very helpful for me but that's it. it always depends on your needs. as all my links are text only (newspaper, tv guide and football results) i don't even really need a hi-res version but yeah.... don't we always need a bigger and better solution =D

I'm a convert from AvantGo to HandStory (http://www.handstory.com/) .
Takes a little getting used to, but once you RTFM and get familiar with it, it clips pages with graphics beautifully, formatting them very well for the NX's screen. You can create your own clips from almost any website. It allows clips to be synced to the MS, and it has both manual and daily automatic options updating your clips.
You can also have it parse out text only from webpages, and it can also convert/clip images to your NX.
I'm never going back to AvantGo.

HandStory has always been a nice application that many didn't seem to know about. I tried using iSilo, but it was too convoluted for me to figure out and use. Turcic's page ony confused me further, sorry!

Do a search in the forums for LOTS of info. You can also get good info at www.turcic.com (http://www.turcic.com). Lots of set up info (for all three apps) in the forums, as well.

Yes, iSilo/iSiloX is a bit difficult to use, at first.. but if you follow the tips on the turcic site above, you should be able to set up a customised .IXL (i.e config) file eventually.
Once configured, grabbing web sites is easy.. and quite fast.. Personally, I use a batch file that launches iSiloXC (command line version of iSiloX) and does the needful right before I actually start hotsync..
IMHO, Handstory is slow, and the app is big..

I'm trying the Avantgo beta and find it stable and improved-but still lacking sophistication. It's so shocking to go back to the smaller, low-res screen. I'm seeing that some graphics won't come over either. And it is really slow when syncing to the MS. It is nice, though that it can save to the stick when surfing-but what a time penalty. I loaded this version to RAM and moved it using PowerRun with no problems yet. I left the AG connect program in RAM.
Anyone else not getting all the images to load? Even the Home screen has rectangles where normally there are logos or adds.

I am a big fan and daily user of AvantGo. While the latest version does not yet do hires+ it does do a few CLIE-ish things such as scroll the text with the jog dial. But what I feel is its strongest point is simply the simplicity of it all. I did try Isilo and the "Turic" methodology that has so many fans here. I was never able to get it to properly work and it seems very much like a geek-kludge to me; not that I can't appreciate such sometimes. But I just don't want to invest the learning time when all I really want to do is read a few web sites and the channelized features of AvantGo make this superbly intuitive, easy and fun. Remember too that the current version is a Beta and they seem to be, at last, moving on geting new betas out to us. Picture this with hires+ and full color and I think it's going to be a killer app.

It's basically a web browser. Of course I am the wrong one to ask. I hate NetFront with a passion, so don't go by me:D!
If your looking for web clippings, you might want to check out Handstory.

-Thanks, yes I just went to the Handstory site... I like everything so far.. haven't downloaded yet.. but I think I may try it out. Handstory's web site is much much better than Avantgo's site.
anything negative w/ Handstory in your opinion??
