Other than turning the brightness down and turning off the IR, what are some other ways to conserve battery life? I was away from a charger for three days, and didn't know what else to do to save as much battery life as possible. What else should I have done?

Powersave enabled! Other than that, well, i use default music player to listen to mp3's, that saves battery right there instead of using 3rd party apps. Other than that, hmm dunno.

One way is to turn beam receive off in general preffs.

hello.

May I ask what is meant by "powersave enabled"?

I have been rading about this for a long time but I'm not sure
I see this option anywhere (of course, it's easy to miss since I own a Japanese TH55).

Where exactly is this option located?
And how does it affect performance?
I mean, its obvious with the IR on/off.

Thanks.

So, unless you're connecting to a wireless network during the time away from your power source, this doesn't apply.

From the manual:
"Disable [PowerSaveMode:] for communicating with maximum power when the wireless LAN is unstable. However, the battery power is quickly consumed.
Select [PowerSaveMode:] for normal use."

When you use Pocket Tunes to play MP3, you can choose to NOT use the equaliser. I have noticed a big difference in battery life when you leave it disabled.

You can also set your system & alarm sounds at a lower setting & for fewer repeats. This can be found in Prefs.

Cliepet did a nice little utility that can underclock the Sony Handheld engine. Mainly useful for long ebook reading and similar low-intensity operations.
