Hello,

I'm looking for an acceptable MPEG1 player for the TH55. So far I tried mmplayer, clie viewer, etc and none of them could play a normal mpeg1 file.

Kinoma player works fine but I have to change the format of the file, so it's not a native-mpeg1 player. I wonder if the TH55 graphics arquitecture and CPU is fast enough to play a full screen mpeg1? Do you think such a program would be available in the future? Also, Kinoma does not allow files to be read from the memory stick, so... could you please tell me which software are you using to read mpeg1 (or at least kinoma files) from the memory stick?

Thanks a bunch in advance.

You say that you want to play MPEG1 but then talk about changing the file format for kinoma.
If you are prepared to convert the file, try mmplayer again after converting using a program such as VirtualDub.
I haven't used it myself but mmplayer is supposed to play native MPEG1 though.
Have you tried analysing the file using GSPOT (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/) ? I find that just because it ends in .mpg and windows media player can play it does NOT automatically make it MPEG1.

NurseMSIC thanks for your reply.

Yes, I want to play native mpeg1. This videos are basically music videos I have, and are 100% mpeg compliant. I can change any of the parameters re-encoding with virtualdub but at the end, not matter what I do, always get any kind of error, or the popular "bit rate too high" error. However, I read in other thread about the mmplayer forum and I'll try to find a response there...

And, as for kinoma, it's the only feasible solution I could find, but I couldn't make it read files directly from the memory stick. Obviously, the TH55 internal memory is not suitable for largue mpeg files, and wonder if anyone else know about any other player that supports video reproduction directly fom the m. stick (in mpeg1 or any other propietary video format).

Thanks...

NurseMSIC, indeed, I read your posts at the mmplayer forum, and you quite solved all the doubts I had... I prefer to forget about mpeg and use divx 5.1.1 as it seems to run really nicely on the TH55. I followed your bitrate settings and mono audio...

Thanks a lot!
